Sydney to Heathrow with BA - best route?
I’ve got two options, similar cost, similar arrival times (both mean I make the same connection to Manchester):
Option 1 is BA0016 with one stop at Singapore but stay on the same 777.
Option 2 is BA0016 to Singapore then change onto BA0012 which is an A380.
I’ll be business class with a fair chance of upgrading with points to First.
my preference is probably option 2 to get off the plane and stretch my legs properly, but also because I suspect A380 first class may be better than that on 777, but this is all guesswork on my part!!
Can anyone shed offer a more informed opinion? Many thanks in advance.

All customers disembark and leave the gate area in Singapore on the BA16, so that isn't an advantage in taking the 16+12 combo.
I prefer the A380 by far, especially in F and on such a long flight, so I would do the shuffle. More TPs too.

WIth either option you have to get off in Singapore so don't let that be a deciding factor.
Is it possible to choose either QR or CX and then make only one stop to MAN avoiding LHR?

Interesting article on headforpoints today that says the updated Qantas offering on the London Sydney route due to be released this year will be a significant improvement over BA.
I havent linked the the article as I think this would breach flyertalk rules.

I always do the 380/777 combo for these flights. It is nice to have a change of scenery and a better quality hard-product for some of the journey.
Downsides are an increased risk of IRROPS/mis-Connect.

Ditto. It also gives you a proper stop in SIN. The BA16 is not long enough to do much of anything but if you switch to the BA12 you have time for a shower etc. There are also Avios and tier point advantages of splitting.

Option 2 SYD-SIN/SIN-LHR is treated as SYD-SIN (BA16) & SIN-LHR(BA12) for tier points & avios

It is usually a LOT easier to find F space on the 15/16 than on the 11/12. A380 F is much better but as a result also often booked up
