Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Click here to access that thread.

This thread lists attractive tier point (TP) runs under Ł3 per TP grouped within different (departure) geographies

Please note that current availability is not guaranteed and all prices include taxes. Please use the following convention when adding tier point runs to this wiki post:
Date fare checked Price per Tier Point Total Price Total Tier Points Route Booking Classes Booking Channel Credit Notes (if applicable) Airlines

Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Please see the links at the bottom of the wiki for archives of runs from previous years.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under Ł300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under Ł500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for Ł520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

You might wanna play around and adjust dates and flight times / connections to your liking.

EDIT: Just realized the AS segment, which will give zero tp. So with this one you're looking at 1'060 tp only.
You could route thru WAS though and get the 1'200 tp, similar price (43'600 EGP) possible on certain dates.

Thanks, but I need it early July till end of Aug/early Sept. And on all the dates I looked in July, there's no CAI-LHR in I. It seems so far that OTP-PHX for the 960tps seems to be the best to get me almost there.

I'd say it's more the removal of being able to do optimised PTY runs

That and 3/4 of the prices I've looked at seem to range from Ł1200-Ł2000+ for a simple trip.

Yes there are some in the Ł600 range for PTY, SJU, SJO, MGA and CUN, but at lot of the time, they cost ŁŁŁŁ.
Does put you off exploring these places, even if only using a local hotel for a night, when you can do so much more for your money elsewhere.
(Having had a quick look, quite a few options later in the year for around Ł772. LAX-LAS-MIA-PTY v.v. but not 100% sure if LAS-MIA is >2000 miles)

Not saying I wouldn't do something like LAX-MIA-PTY-MIA-MCO-LAX for 400TP if it were going cheap. Still could be around Ł1.50/TP at the right time.
Handy to nest inside one of the OTP-xxx runs for Gold etc.

LAS-MIA is 2174 miles, so it's on the sunny side of the street

There are ~€65 fares one way on the LATAM MAD-FRA route next Feb and March, findable on SkyScanner. Reasonable ~Ł1.4/TP run.

Great find, thanks! Been meaning to try this for a while. I've booked the latest date I could find, in mid-April, for a single MAD-FRA, at Ł61.20, and it seems to have been ticketed fine.

A bit more information:
  • Weird availability, at least on Google Flights - I was seeing lots of availability even into March-April but it seems to have gone.
  • Returns seemed to be available on some combinations of dates for Ł145 (e.g 4 day trip on 6th Feb).
  • The outbound arrives 5pm in FRA, the return leg into MAD at 10pm.

TP run to Grand Cayman

Hi

I’m a TP run newbie and I’m not really confident using the ITA matrix so I would appreciate your help working out a TP run to Grand Cayman. Can start ex-EU and go the long way round the US to get there.

Many thanks.

If you're looking at a particular destination, it's hardly what one would usually call a TP run. You're more like looking for a premium cabin fare assumably, while also earning some TPs. GCM isn't exactly TP run friendly in terms of fares now. Furthermore: there's a dedicated thread for fare and routing assistance. Never the less, looks like it will be well above 2000 €/person, depending on the time of the year and other factors.

Thanks. The price is not a concern. Earning tier points is so I am looking for the most practical way to get a decent number of TPS out of a trip I need to do anyway. I’m not sure what this TP Master Thread is for you are directing me elsewhere for assistance on a TP run?

The TP master thread is for - "I've found this interestingly priced TP run, maybe others are interested" - along with discussion of improving it. Intermediate to advanced level, but which beginners can read through to understand the process.

The other thread - https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...eta-draft.html - is for your query of "help me find a good TP run"

Because basically it's a bit hard to console you without any specifics for your intended TP run (besides GCM) and furthermore this thread gets drowned with requests like yours. Well, I now know you have no budget idea, which means some 2300-2400 € will probably be okay per person. Any TP run ideas and fares shared have long been lost among all the chatter. Like @craigthemif too pointed out, there's a separate thread for fare finding, rather than TP run fare and idea sharing. You posted a request, not something to share.

The TP run wikipost and post #1 contain some good advice for how to find a fare suitable for going to GCM and how to maximise TPs. It's not that much a matter of understanding Matrix. Personally I used ExpertFlyer for a quick look for a fare and my logic is very much the same as explained in post #1 , but you can play around with Matrix to find the most suitable starting point in Continental Europe. If you've read this thread, you've noticed that JV fares TATL have now a standard set of two European transfers and two American transfers permitted. There's exceptions, but it's the easiest starting point for playing around with Matrix and the legs in your itinerary, without using also e.g. ExpertFlyer. And like I said: the wikipost and post #1 contain what you need.

And yes, I did construct something, but I'm not exactly happy to share it, because I think this thread is slowly becoming cluttered and people are less inclined to help themselves. But okay, this time only...

If Philly isn't nice, do something else instead. I just threw it in instead of the typical NYC layovers. And the same goes for MIA, as you can do CLT instead, as AA serves GCM from there as well (besides certain other AA hubs, which however are irrelevant in this case).

I need to go to Asia at the end of June and was wondering if anyone could help me find a more cost effective way of flying. Currently I have found flights leaving OSL-SIN on June 26th and returning from SIN to OSL on August 8th for 1463 GBP. This is on Qatar as I am keen to optimize TP as well. While the dates are pretty fixed I am happy to fly out of anywhere ex EU and HKG SIN BKK ect as my final destination will be PVG.
Below is a link to the most optimal flights I have found so far:
https://www.google.com/flights#flt=O...;sd:1;t:b;tt:m
Thanks so much for your help, the majority of you are better at this that me so id appreciate any help I could get!

If you had bothered to read only two posts above, you would found a proper thread to write about your concern.

The above mentioned thread is for BA fares not QR fine tuning

Welcome to the Find me a good BA fare ticket clinic.
This is essentially for BA / BA codeshares and partner only. If your booking is essentially on Qatar, Qantas, AA or anyone else, please go to those forums and pursue the matter there. These forums have good subject matter experts to hand.

I did read the posts above. However, there is no such forum for requests specific to Qatar and as I would like to get as many tier points as possible, I thought I would ask for help here as there doesn't seem to be another appropriate place. If I am incorrect I would be grateful if someone could point me to the correct location to post this question.
