Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Click here to access that thread.

This thread lists attractive tier point (TP) runs under Ł3 per TP grouped within different (departure) geographies

Please note that current availability is not guaranteed and all prices include taxes. Please use the following convention when adding tier point runs to this wiki post:
Date fare checked Price per Tier Point Total Price Total Tier Points Route Booking Classes Booking Channel Credit Notes (if applicable) Airlines

Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Please see the links at the bottom of the wiki for archives of runs from previous years.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under Ł300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under Ł500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for Ł520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

In reply to rossmacd's question above, the thread has become a complete waste of time and bandwidth, and it really is time to fix it.

At the top of the Wiki it says: This thread lists attractive tier point (TP) runs under Ł3 per TP grouped within different (departure) geographies. Please let's get back to that.
Ok. What do you want me to do? Apologize? Cry?
It's a forum, not a goulag. I respect the rule, I came here as always to either 1) find genuine info or 2) provide useful infos.

If there is a better place to request let me know in MP but I don't appreciate the tone of your post.

Thanks for those who helped, much appreciated!

Honey, this will earn me no Brownie Points but I get both sides to this. FT is a wonderful resource for those seeking to travel in luxury for what other people pay for Economy. It also is a marvellous place to learn how to achieve status to get into Lounges where people live in a style they would never do at home. Where you are going is irrelevant you get on a plane eat and drink, get off and come back again. People go to Hawaii, a beautiful place the other side of the world for a weekend. You know this. If you were to ask anyone in the great big world outside, they would declare you mad.

I say this as you posted this on the wrong Forum. This has all the importance of a sneeze in a Cinema, yet I do understand that this thread is about flying around the world to gain points, and the other is about fares where you can fly and take advantage of idiotic airline pricing in order to go to places far more cheaply and earn Tier Points. Now you May find the lines blurred at this point, I certainly do, but never mind most promos there are pretty tolerant of beginners.

What i I do think irritates people are folks who treat the place as a travel agency for cheap premium fares rather than doing a little foot work themselves. Even I can do that and if I can, any fool can. I do ask questions sometimes about the validity and time frames if it is not clear, and people have been most helpful. What people like is that you’ve had a go. I read these threads avidly as they contain many good ideas and they are due for a bit of a refresh that is true. What this should be brilliant for is adding to previous knowledge that may have slipped notice or that has been updates. I am grateful for information regarding European destinations that give 80 Tier points both ways. No it’s not a gulag but it is taken very seriously and ultimately maximising points and miles is what brought FT into being years back.

Just a reminder to anyone looking for a good TP run for the summer, that the Bucharest (OTP) - Phoenix (PHX) fare is still active with, seemingly, plenty of availability for August.

OTP - LHR - (US East Coast gateway) - LAX - PHX and back (800 TPs) is pricing up at Ł1,359, or Ł1.70 per TP. Outward transatlantic must be on Tue/Wed/Thu, return transatlantic on Mon/Tue/Wed.

I've attached an example, but many variations are possible.

It's also possible to add Helsinki into the itinerary, between LHR and the East Coast, giving 960 TPs for Ł1,571, or Ł1.63 per TP. Availability for this routing seems very limited.

Indeed it is - I have just booked a variation on this for early July. Mine was OTP-LHR-MIA-LAX-PHX rtn with a GUF to F on the TATLs. I think I paid about Ł1500 booked via Propeller. Slightly more than the option above but I needed BA codes to GUF. As a point of interest which many will already know, AA run a 77W between MIA and LAX which gives a flat bed similar to the A321T Transcon JFK-LAX/SFO but I found there was better I class availability on my dates. Whilst I miss out on CCR on the outbound as MIA is a T3 departure, FFD on the way home will make up for it.

A further benefit for me was the late arrival of the MIA flight into T3 (after noon) means that I can have a long layover, a night in my own bed, and b2b the LHR-OTP the following day rather than having to do it all through.

Is Propellor a physical travel agent? And if so, is there any down side to using them?

Absolutely none - I've used them for my Directors travel (not cheap TP hunters) and they've been exceptional

Propeller is a physical TA. I am not aware of any downsides but you do have to pay a small booking fee but it's all very transparent and listed on their website. I would recommend Daniel and his team.

Ok, so they're not for getting the bargain fares on TP runs.

I’ve had one bad experience with them- when they booked a connecting flight which just met MCT for LHr except the inbound flight was to LCY, went backwards and forwards between them and BA, each blaming the other and both not willing to foot the bill, Eventually BA changed it on the day for me due to status on the day, PT advice was just turn up and see what happens.

I haven’t used them since but in fairness, others seam to rave about them and this could have been an isolated incident.

I'm happy to recommend Daniel and the team at Propeller. Haven't encountered a downside yet.

How much do they charge for a booking? I live in Norway, can I use them for a trip that starts in OSL?

I had one less than wonderful experience with Propeller where there was a flight change with impossible connections that wasn't picked up and when I contacted them about it got no response until I whined on here about it. In fairness, it did then get resolved but I have avoided them since. I know that most people report very good experiences so maybe I was another one that was just unlucky.
