Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...
For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times
Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.
If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.
Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here
Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.
Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).
Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Hi All,
I have a run where my first US port is JFK coming up and after several AA changes, my connection time at JFK has dropped to 3 hours and 10 mins. Now I believe I'll be arriving at Terminal 7 as it's a BA operated flight and will then need to transit to Terminal 8 for the AA operated JFK - LAX flight. I've also read that I may need to collect checked luggage before rechecking for the AA connection. All flights are part of the same itinerary and ticketed by AA, (when they had the ex-GVA/ZHR sale on), so my questions are:
1. Will we need to collect checked luggage to then drop off again?
2. Would a connection time of ~3 hours from Terminal 7 - 8 at JFK make anyone nervous? Or should that be enough time to clear immigration, transit to another terminal and board?
Thanks!

3 hours should be sufficient but as others have said it would be much better all round to fly AA from LHR; the product is better these days.

Hi all
Looking for some inspiration for a TP run to close a 290 gap to requalify for Gold. I’m london based, and ideally earn on one trip over a (long) weekend. Target is to complete by end of April.
Have looked at some previous ideas on this thread but either come in just under or way over.
Many thanks

Hi you amazing wizards of TPS.. I’m looking for some tips for finding a good value J fare to EZE or SCL at the end of this year!! I mainly use google flights for selecting multiple EU departure points. I thought I had a great fare from LIS LHR EZE but it was only showing availbility for 1 and is gone today :-( Any tips on any unusual routings that work out sub €2k pp would be amazing. Thanks in advance. PS very close to Gold for first time also. :-)

Cheap 5 Point Tier Run
I’m Silver at the moment and on the basis of flights booked will be 5 points short of Gold, for the first time, when I fly to Madieria LGW-FNC in May. No point in getting more points as the FNC flight is a 160 TP.
Im thinking it would be good to get Gold for this as I could try out the First Lounge at LGW.
Plan is to fly Easy Jet from my local airport SEN to JER (£35) after lunch (so I can work morning) and return JER to LGW early evening for £20
thoughts?

£55 and a day of hassle for a few hours in a slightly different lounge at Gatwick (nothing at funchal that I recall) seems a waste of cash. Divert that 55 to a decent meal at Gatwick I say, that would really set you up for the flight.

Is there something stopping me booking LATAM MAD-FRA same day return?
Flight from MAD-FRA gets in around 17:40 and then the return is 1h45 later but it refuses to let me book saying that there's no availability even though I would assume it's the same plane?. Separate is fine.

Might actually look at nesting flights to give myself more time.
Still playing around with whether to try and start in FRA or MAD. A lot of the flights I can get to MAD from MAN only arrive at 3pm or 10pm onwards (some are far cheaper from there than direct from London), and if I have to start adding in loads of petrol, driving, parking etc., it defeats the purpose of the trip cost wise.
