Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...
For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times
Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.
If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.
Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here
Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.
Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).
Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

I am 205 TPs away from retaining gold, so looking to do a TP run this month. Have found LHR-HEL-TAL-HEL-LHR leaving Friday 15th Feb @ 6.15pm, sleeping in Tallin for a few hours and then returning home@ 6.00am on Saturday 16th. Cost is £357 after using Avios to reduce the price. My wife thinks i am mad!
But this gets me 200 pts and therefore 5 away from the 1500 needed.
ITA matrix Fare rules state that the ticket allows for unlimited stopovers, but each time i try to put in another hop, TAL-HEL-MAN-LHR for example, the price goes up massively. I have even considered adding in TAL-HEL-ARN-HEL-LHR but ITA Matrix doesnt like it.
Anybody able to offer any assistance please? to get me the 5 needed??

I am thinking about trying to get Silver quickly at the start of my next tier point collection year. My collection year ends on 8 May. I have been looking at the AUH-CMB-CGK run on UL and with the current Avios offer from BA positioning to AUH is fairly cheap in WT, but the flight times are incredibly awkward and I am trying to avoid needing to take much time off work. So far I have been able to come up with this combination of nested tickets.
Thanks to the Avios offer I can get the total cost of this to something like £716 and I believe the total trip returns 600TPs, which I don't think is bad value and means I only need two eligible BA/IB flights to secure Silver. It doesn't seem to be possible with the flight timings to do this routing any quicker – unless I am wrong?
The main issue with trying to do it this fast is that it leaves only 3 /12 hours between arriving in AUH on the UL inbound and taking the BA flight back to LHR. It looks like both carriers operate out of AUH Terminal 1, but I am extremely nervous about booking a connection like this on separate tickets. The only time I have tried something similar with a CA domestic flight CGO-PEK and a BA flight PEK-LHR, and I missed the BA flight due to late baggage on the inbound (I won't have baggage this time, but still).
Am I worrying too much about booking this itinerary with a tight separate-ticket connection? I am wondering if Amex Plat missed connection cover would consider 3 1/2 hours in this situation sufficient time to make a claim should the UL inbound be late.

Maybe I'm over confident, but I think it would take something calamitous to miss the connection. UL207 has good on time reliability, both carriers use the same terminal and the MCT is 1 hour. What could possibly go wrong
Agree about the BA flight timings - I almost went with Etihad but I can look around Abu Dhabi for a day.

I did this a few weeks ago and 3.5 hours was plenty (if you have lounge access; enough time to shower, eat, drink, relax and then sit waiting at the gate a bit too). Once you get off the UL flights, you clear the transit security, and then plenty time. Same terminal. I also had no luggage so you will not need to leave the airport. Just be sure to check in online and download / print your next flight boarding pass. On your return UL flights at CGK remember you must get your printed boarding ticket at the check in desk - not an electronic boarding pass!
