Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Thanks.
Given it was a mistake fare, there's no point as it's not bookable on any given day.

I recently had some schedule changes on an AA itinerary booked through one of the larger OTAs. In total contrast to BA I was able to contact AA directly to discuss routing changes. Not sure if that’s the standard but in my own case I had none of the problems I have had in the past with agency bookings on BA flights, where BA require you to go through the agency for everything.

Thanks for this, really helpful and useful to know (as a datapoint rather than a guarantee!).
Another element of the equation tipping things to booking on 001 stock as opposed to 125!
I am a bit gun shy still after Propeller and BA landed me in a right old pickle down-route in Cape Town a couple of years back. Plus other stories of TA bookings on here.
To date, I think, all my 001 tickets in the last 5 years have been direct from aa online or via aa over the phone. I think part of that habit of even thinking of using aa must have been having an easier time of it when TPs were greater on the AA code of a flight than the BA code intra USA.

I think it has been mentioned somewhere, but I am unable to find it...
About the AUH-CGK run, has anyone done it twice with a straight back to back in AUH between the 1st and the 2nd trip/ticket?

Hi All, does anyone know if you're able to do a back-to-back at AGP? I'm looking to fly HEL-AGP with some other creative routing to get to HEL initially. Thanks!

Have a look at the main Back to Back thread ;

Back-to-back / Immediate Turnarounds at BA Destinations

AGP: Excellent for Schengen, Risky if not. Schengen - immediate turnaround possible at gate area. Non-Schengen - There is a transit passageway back to airside on the left after passports, but there can be long delays at passports, achievable if you are willing to politely push in the queue.

A little help if I may, I'm trying to work a set of flights to suit my needs (as opposed to just hoping you guys will do all the work), but I just need a couple of pointers (before i likely come back with an itinerary for you to sense check/improve). I need to be in NY for a morning appointment, followed by a couple of days in LA before back to the UK (Dublin - as its easiest from CWL/BRS and seems cheaper than the other usual ex-eu)

There won't be a saturday stayover, I can see many options that are DUB-LHR-JFK (i'll try and arrive in NY late in the day to allow be to have the morning meeting and back out of there in 24hrs), I've discounted flying through LCY as it gets into NY at 2pm so makes the 24hrs stopover too tight. I can then pick a direct flight to LAX (so potentially 210TP's ?),

On the return, I'm trying to balance leaving on Friday (PM) and being back in the UK as some point on Saturday, to catch an early Sunday flight back to CWL/BRS) do you have any hints and tips to make this a healthy TP return, without any potentially tight transfers etc (as I'm not the most organised in airports). Is it as simple as reversing the LAX-JFK-LHR (210+140?) or should I be trying something else?

I doff my cap to you guys, even this probably simple itinerary is frying my brain.

Sounds like you generally have the right idea, but you'll only get 210TPs for a First booking code [F or A] which wouldn't normally occur with a Business transatlantic [J, C, D, R or I]. You'd be looking at either 140+140 or 210+210 except in edge cases.

The other option to max out TPs is to hop about East or West coast for a few more 40 point sectors.

I have 2 booked in March but I have a night in AUH as I didnt want to chance it, UL have a habit of wanting to see Credit Cards before BP issue as well as other quirks, AUH has a Airside Transfer / Transit but I think there is another security check according to the website.

Thanks @mikeyfly! So a 50 min turn around at AGP would seem achievable then.

Got -hnl - ams

Undecided on this one, kinda appreciate thoughts of the wiser TP runners. I should be, based on present bookings, around the 1200 tp mark before this run late August - my year is jan to jan.

im looking at a choice between routing GOT via LHR/JFK or HEL and direct A350 connecting LAX onto HNL. The return I’m happy with based around the timings and meetings etc...

routing via HEL direct to LAX on the A350 gives a price reduction of around £100

Thanks.
This thread is about helping people to find TP runs, not to brag about booking a mistake fare. (besides the fact that the CX mistake fare wasn't much of a TP run anyhow)

I made a non schengen, had to ask to get to front of passport queue though and then make sure you go left up the stairs once through passport control. It's a really small distance but you need to cross the border in and out which can have a queue.

Quick question... is there anything I need to do to ensure that I get my tier points / miles from an AA flight as part of a TPR? I assume it happens automatically, but I figured I should check.
