Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

https://pointstobemade.boardingarea....r-point-route/ this link is on the first page of results. Lots of people have done TP runs on Intra-Malaysia flights, myself included. Only 3 years ago, you could travel for £1/TP. Those days appear to be gone. KUL-PEN is good. KUL-JHB or KUL-LGK have also been good for me.

I've found the key to finding TP value is look for (i) very short business class flights (e.g. HKG-CAN, KUL-PEN, KIX-NRT, NGO-NRT, or any domestic sector) as these always earn 40 TP, or (ii) sectors just over 2,000 miles in business as these earn 140 TP (e.g. KUL-DEL, HKG-CGK, HKG-CTS)

I did KUL-TGG-KUL this summer. The price wasn’t the old days of £1 per TP but was around £1.50 per TP.

It's there for about £1900, although I can't get it to add the JFK stoppage at that price. CAI-LHR-LAX-HNL is still 420TP e/w (840 TTL) though.

I think there is a lack of 'I' space on the JFK-LAX flights for many dates I searched. Some space on the 6am and 7am departures so forcing a stopover at JFK.

Anyone who spent their Christmas with their stupid family instead of doing the AUH-CMB-CGK run has missed out.

At 05:30 on this 24c Christmas morning, in the Serendib Lounge, travellers were treated to an off-key version of ‘Jingle Bells’ sung by SriLankan cabin crew, accompanied by a captain and first officer on the guitar and tabla drums.

Wouldn’t get that in Galleries T5B…

The Flounge didn't even wish us a Merry Christmas on that ad screen by the horses. I've had Happy New Year wishes there a few times so I was surprised to see just another Amex ad.

DCA-PHL-CLT-RDU rtn

I have two upcoming bookings for the routing in the subject line. I have realised the checkin agent can see me repeating the same itinerary to be done in four days. Do I expect to be sent to a second inspection? I should have split two runs over a couple of weeks, but did not really have time. I am pretty sure that airport staff would not understand these "TP runs"...

Thanks & Merry Christmas everyone!

mileage runs are common on most airlines, and airlines staff are familiar with them, I wouldn’t worry, can always tell them if required.

Thank you, I am relieved. I did some runs in the past but have never done two in such a short period. I tried to find some other routes but could not really find good deals. In the past, I spent some days at destinations, so simply told that I wanted to add some more miles but I cannot explain to travel back & forth to the same destination in 4 days without mentioning TP runs.

They won't even bat an eyelid. I did a TP run that had me fly from JFK to CLT and immediately back to LGA before connecting onwards. We had a good laugh about it being better than braving the traffic.

Wow, lucky you! I was even once offered if I would like to change to less connections so that I could get to the destination earlier. They didn't quite understand that I paid some extra $ for the longer route, though they let me go without any issue. I was a bit embarrassed.

after days of trying, failing, giving up, trying, failing and giving up I got it managed to get 2 transfers in Europe. On some days in late October, BCN seems to be doable.
Any other suggestions to get an 80 TP segment in this itinerary? Otherwise I will propably be booking that.
JFk-LAX-PDX on the outbound leg will lead to an overnight stay in either JFK or LAX.
long layover in JFK on the inbound is on purpose. but now needed at all.

thanks in Advance, kind regards and merry Christmas to everyone!

MPM prevents it, i.e. not doable. As for transfers in area 2, it's very much up to how you construct the route with the MPM in mind. Now since you apparently just bash away with Matrix, the best way is to just try how much mileage is doable, which you've obviously done.

IMO within Asia the best value run is TPE-KUL-SIN/BKK/JHB rtn on MH. Works out at £1.25/TP

Happy to hear of any better deals!

OP was asking about TP runs from the west coast. Apart from the JL LAX-SIN run in PE which is no longer available, I also can't see anything.
