Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Click here to access that thread.

This thread lists attractive tier point (TP) runs under £3 per TP grouped within different (departure) geographies

Please note that current availability is not guaranteed and all prices include taxes. Please use the following convention when adding tier point runs to this wiki post:
Date fare checked Price per Tier Point Total Price Total Tier Points Route Booking Classes Booking Channel Credit Notes (if applicable) Airlines

Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Please see the links at the bottom of the wiki for archives of runs from previous years.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Just to note : This CANNOT be put together on ITA Matrix. I checked for various options through Expertflyer for fare availability.

This itinerary earns 1020 TP's (7*140 + 1*40) and for me is beneficial as minimises time off work. Converts to £2112 approx.

There is very little availability in I class from LAX-JFK and HNL-DFW is long-haul 777 with lie flat seats for the overnight back to mainland, which is preferable anyway.

It's possible to move the last sector out to break the journey however this incurs additional cost - typically another £160 or so.

Fare basis INNC00S2 / RNNC00S2 (the above example is a mix of I outbound, R inbound. I don't know why the inbound is in R though)
No advance purchase requirements
No minimum stay
Maximum stay 12 months

I can save about £200 booking a fare with flightnetwork rather than directly with the airline. I have read a mixture of reviews/thoughts via FT but I'm inclined too think it might not be a good idea to do so. Thoughts anyone? Avoid at all costs?

I don’t like FN. they have a tendency to call you with an increased price after purchase. If it’s something bookable at BA.Com, consider price promise and go direct.

My approach may not survive intense scrutiny but if I'm just booking a flight, I always try to book direct with the airline. If something goes wrong there's only one party ultimately responsible.

Both times I’ve used them the actual flights have been fine, and they were quick to sort out a major screw-up, albeit their fault. If I can’t book online I’d tend to call up or look at Propellor etc.

That’s pretty sound thinking. This is with Malaysian. I’m not sure if there’s a price promise with them. I’ll check.

Aye, aye! I second your sentiment.

I'm also puzzled are people just so frugal to call or are they affraid of speaking English, when I often times notice lots of FT'ers just seem to be happy only to book online and get whatever flights they happen to pull up that way, rather than make a phone booking and get a better itinerary that way. We are after all talking about premium cabin tickets worth into the thousands of £s/€s/$s. Out of my trips for 2019, all the complex ones are phone bookings. I avoid OTAs as much as possible, because then the airline can't try outsource any IRROPS, schedule alteration cockups etc. to a 3rd party to be resolved.

Just an example why I want to always take up any reroutes etc. only with an airline: last week AA tried to claim a TA has cancelled my two last legs and my ticket would have ended in Ireland, so I wouldn't have got back to the UK. I said it's nonsense and that the booking was by AA, nobody has been messing around with it. CS noticed that I was right and proceeded to duly rebook me for a second time (I had been dropped off the plane already once without any notice). Well, it would have been interesting to get stuck on the wrong island, but perhaps Yanks don't see a difference. Sure, some OTAs are doable like Expedia, but it always means there's one more player in the game. As a sidenote: it wasn't until my third bump from that darn flight from DUB that an AA agent noticed there's a MCT problem. I myself hadn't noticed it, because in my books I had plenty of time for my LCY-LGW hop.

One of the TP runs featured on the wiki is

AUH-CMB-CGK-CMB-AUH
£0.95/TP
£479
560tp

investigating this as a possible first real TP run, However to do this you need to pass through CMB twice 😱

Due to the recent announcments by the Foreign office, advising not to travel to colombo, is this still ok, as would only be transiting through the airport ?

The question is whether your travel insurance would be valid, and only your policy wording or a conversation with your insurer can answer that.

The airport is probably the most safe environment there at the time being. I myself wouldn't cancel it, but I recommend checking how your insurance policy is restricted.

Can you detail what 'no luck' means? Would be important to check the fare rules I've detailed especially around the need for BA flight numbers.

Works fine for me. If you want to optimise TP's or add stops then you need to use the multi city booking option.

If you wanted to add a break then Flight 5 would change to ORD-LHR and Flight 6 would be LHR-CAI

Spits out the following:

£2,128 approx.

Trying to get this before Dec 08th for my partner in his quest for Gold. Extremely difficult! Been working the system in late autumn for a while, with no results.
