Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under 300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under 500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for 520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

I have done the run in both directions. The CGK-CMB-AUH version was slightly more expensive from memory

Doing a b2b in AUH is very easy.

I think the options are pretty much the same as in 2019. Certainly plenty of great options for those who are crafty. Personally I have one itinerary booked for my membership year 2020-2021 and another on the drawingboard. The main difference for me is that I'm not doing maximal TPs per itinerary necessarily, but rather booking experiences I haven't had and wish to do.

This is the kind of question that reveals you haven't even looked at the timetable. For what you're contemplating: no, since there's one BA flight per day.

There are two LHR-HEL flights daily on BA hardware, and 3 on AY hardware (I presume all with BA prefix available). But the answer is still no, as the evening flight LHR-HEL returns the following morning and thus overnight needed.

There's not two flights per day with BA in 2020. As for the codeshares: not doable with the fare discussed here now.

Just looking at that first class Moscow - US cities fare that 'chil' posted in the Premium Fare Deals thread, and trying to optimise for tier points. Russian visa awkwardness aside, a straightforward DME-LHR-XXX routing in first would be 840TPs for ~1933 so 2.30/TP. It's possible to book directly through the BA site, and some of the routings were via another US gateway for an additional 1 or 2 x 40TPs. Fare appears to be ANCRU28.

The only west coast city it seems to work for is SJC. DME-LHR-SJC prices at 1933 and is available on most days from April onwards. Which led me to wonder whether it would be possible to route this via JFK and LAX. Unfortunately when I try this with ITA Matrix (dates in August, using LON JFK LAX in the routing code box) the prices goes up to over 5k.

Can any of the more experienced hands on here make this work? Or is there a reason why this fare wouldn't work with that routing?

The cheap Club fares to HEL provide some great opportunities for those not averse to back to backs and willing to originate from JER eg

Ticket 1 18 March BA2773 JER-LGW
19 March BA794 LHR-HEL
25 March BA799 HEL-LHR
25 March BA2776 LGW-JER
Cost on ba.com using multicity pricing 287.91 GBP
Ticket 2 19 March BA799 HEL-LHR
19 March BA2776 LGW-JER
24 March BA2777 JER - LGW
25 March BA794 LHR-HEL
Cost on ba.com using multicity pricing 338.92 EUR (286 GBP)

So 480 TP for 574 GBP at around 1.20 GBP/tier point

Whilst switching airports is painful assuming you are London based it should be possible to break up with overnights in London each way.

Note that if you try and price a regular JER-HEL roundtrip on ba.com these fares won't show. Instead look on Google flights and then build up the fares using the multicity pricing functionality

Crap, I just hope this new trend of nesting also an ex-HEL with the usual HEL run won't kill off all my BA fares. It's nothing new that e.g. HEL-JER is cheap. If the old online expression was slashdotted, then FT'ed probably can be used for airfrares.

Dates I looked at were flying out on Friday 11 April to AMS, flying back to London from AMS on Wednesday 15: https://flights.app.goo.gl/uAhK9
Thanks for the great suggestion :-)

Any good Ex EU - US end of May?

I originally had plans to book an ex EU QR trip to Hong Kong For 560 tier points but with the Coronavirus outbreak very uncertain at this time I dont want to risk it.
So looking for decent ex EU deals to the US that will net me some tier points end of May - 28th or so for two weeks. Maybe not a crazy TP run as this will be a holiday but I cant seem to find any good indirects to even net me more than the standard 280. Looking at 1250-1500 pp.

If you can wait until 1st June to fly then you can do the INV-PDX fare for 1300ish.

4 BA Metal Flights

Hi, can someone confirm...

Following a Christmas trip to CPT in QR J the family have 600TP's to retain their silvers but need 4 x BA metal flights...

We are looking at a PE fare from Jersey to Cancun which tickets on AA via LGW & JFK.

The JER to LGW and LGW to JFK legs (both ways) are on BA metal but AA or Iberia tickets

Would this qualify for the 4 x BA metal flights required to 'unlock' silver?

You'd need to play with it to optimise TPs but here's a basic example. https://www.google.co.uk/flights?saf...9*2.GBP.123999
