HKG aircraft swap end of 2019?

I'm looking ahead a year, with a view to an Avios booking HKG-LHR.

I noticed that the two BA flights seem to have swapped aircraft. On further investigation:
  • Up to and including 26 October, the earlier flights BA31/BA32 are A380 services, and the later flights BA27/BA28 are 777 services. I believe this has been the case for years.

  • From 27 October onwards (end of BST), the earlier flights BA31/BA32 show as 777s and the later flights BA27/BA28 show as A380.

Minor timing difference on HKG-LHR (~30 min), greater on LHR-HKG (~3 hours). But potentially significant for those of us keen to avoid 777s!

Any rhyme or reason? Temporary gremlins? Landing/gate slots? A350 introduction?

Apologies if this has been posted already - searched but nothing found.

Nothing too new, is already happening now for the current winter schedule.

Am guessing is to prepare for any mis-connection that might happen during winter time if weather causes those short-haul flight to land late, there would be enough capacity to carry the mis-connected passengers

Oh, fair enough. Thanks.

I flew the outbound on the 777 in Club last week having deliberately initially booked the A380 which was swapped, I can report was a ‘good’ 777 and not an old rattler like you may get on Bangkok

Yes I think in terms of HKG the 777 is pretty much always a 777-300ER which are all fairly new.

Any idea if the A380 / 77W are going to swap again for the summer schedule? I am First on 77W BA0027 on 12/04/19 and was hoping for the swap to A380 but hasn't happened yet !
