2019 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2018 or earlier if you have a 2019 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #9

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

I’m being offered £159 to upgrade BA795 HEL-LHR, offer appeared about two weeks befor departure.

Unfortunately trying to upgrade just gives me an error message saying “Sorry, there was a problem retrieving upgrade information”

Shame really, since last time I took that flight (which departs 07:45 local) in Y, the crew lied and told me they “don’t stock sandwiches on the morning flights”. I went hungry as I didn’t much fancy having wasabi peas for breakfast.

POUG on RFS flights (finally!)

For the first time ever, I have received a POUG on an RFS (!) booking.

BUD - LHR for £149. It isn’t a deal I will use this time, however it is a welcome option for cases when CE reward seats are not available.

£229 WT -> WT+; LHR-JED
£252 WT -> WT+; JED-LHR

First of all, these are both very bad value, given that the price differential (and still the same now) is £138 for LHR-JED and £60 for JED-LHR. Second of all, I thought that POUGs always had a price ending in a 9?

EDIT: Clearly I am wrong about that second point, looking at the wiki, most end in a 9, but a few don't.

POUG but not issued with a new E-ticket

Hello there.
Last week I took advantage of a POUG LHR-CPT return and it was dealt with by BA Cust Care (couldn't upgrade via app to MMB). I was told a new e-ticket would be issued and then I could look to select my seats. Its been 4 days and my e-ticket hasn't been issued. When I chased it yesterday, I was told that the issue was being dealt with by a "back-office" and they couldn't tell me how long it would take to provide me with a new e-ticket. I really want to pre select my seat asap. Would it be reasonable for me to chase with greater emphasis (complain) about the wait or this just something Ill have to sit on my hands wait for? Opinions would be appreciated.

I would send a dm on twitter they should be able to assist. As far as I’m aware ticket reissues are done in flight date order

It’s certainly not unusual for it to take a few days. I upgraded an upcoming BA Holidays booking from WTP to CW using the call centre; it took over a week before it showed in MMB.

If your flight is some way off this could take a few weeks to be resolved. However I was under the impression that if you are unticketed, you can still select seats, you just have to do it via the Contact Centre. You cannot do it online. Did you ask the agent about paid seating in your recent call with them?

BA just called me ten mins ago and issued the new ticket. The agent even helped me to upgrade my domestic sectors to Club Europe for 7500 avios for both PAX. Seats are now available to book.

So to confirm, if available, I'll see this in the mobile app, but only in the Manage My Booking link? Once in the Manage My Booking, is it at the top, part of the slider where it tells you that you can order a meal, or somewhere else?

Thanks!

It would be visible in the App before the Manage My Booking link, though having got there it would also be visible in several places, for example in the flight details there is a box marked upgrade.It's also mentioned towards the bottom of that particular screen, with red writing if there is POUG offer. However it will be more clearly visible well before then in the main App part of the Show Flight Details. You will see just below the seat number and above the ticket number a pair of parallel lines going across the screen - if a POUG was offered a picture panel would show up between those lines.

In short, if you got a POUG, even a fairly cursory glance of the App would quickly let you know it was there.

I've seen them on both ET and WT redemptions in the past - however, never considered them a good value since these don't give extra TPs and CE and WT+ are usually not worth the price difference.
