2019 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2018 or earlier if you have a 2019 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #9

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Limited Upgrade Offer €99

I booked economy of BA 845 DUB-LHR for 1st Mar a number of months ago but kept an eye out for upgrades. They steadily kept going up, to the point they at the end of Jan it was €760 for a one way upgrade for 2 people. Last week when I looked it said there were no seats left in the cabin. However yesterday I got an email from BA offering me a “limited time upgrade for €99pp”.

Firstly, where did these seats come from if the cabin was full? And why the dramatic dip in price? Cancellations of other passengers?

The CE cabin is never fixed, if Y demand is low they can push the curtains back and bait people into upgrading to J

CE has flexible seating. They can push the curtain back to create more CE seats. That's probably what happened here.

This is the clear contrast between a Fare Difference upgrade - almost always available - and a POUG - not guaranteed at all. There is a lot more detail in the main POUG thread, to be found in the Dashboard.

If someone buys a seat in CE when the cabin is "full" they need to move the curtain back which creates 3 empty seats. BA probably know from historical data that those remaining seats will go unsold hence the special POUG offer.

POUGs have downside of making the reservation unchangeable. Worth factoring in if considering an otherwise good offer.

Just got offered and upgraded my Comair(BA) flight from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls for 570 ZAR (around £30). Not bad for an extra 35 TPs.

Has anyone received a POUG notification for flights not originating at LHR/LGW eg starting at INV as I’ve never been offered one but have on the rare occasion when my itinerary starts in London?

Just got offered £249 WT-WTP: LGW-BGI for flight later this week

Took the offer because:
1. It's the new 3-4-3 seat combination in WT and wan't looking forward to being squashed
2. The original WT flight only cost £100 as part of the £100 e/w promotion BA were running for its birthday celebrations

Unable to update the WIKI as not enough posts

LHR-NAS
WTP-CW for May 2019
various prices offered

24/2 £680

1/3 £712

5/3 £729

Didn’t take up as when booked on 21/2 the diff between WTP and CW was £500 and decided that for three of us would prefer £1500 cash.

Flight on the way back (late May) was booked in club as was ‘only’ £900 pp

I have an upcoming flight JFK-LHR, operated by BA but AA coded. Do they offer POUG or airport upgrades on such flights? If I upgrade to PE, do I still get the extra TP and Avios? Thank you.

Why are upgrades to ACC so expensive? £2399 for WTP to CW one way.

LHR-ORD: £299 for WT to WTP April '19

Probably gonna leave it as it's a day flight, and we can put the ~£600 toward something better to do at the destination!
