LHR-DOH is not a good candidate for op-ups because loads tend to be low. If you can get it on a BA code, and booked directly, it *is* a good candidate for avios upgrades. That sounds expensive though!

Realistically, though, the QR lounge at LHR runs the CCR very close indeed, and maybe even exceeds it. Meanwhile, the 1-2-1 layout or Q suites aren't as good as BA F, but it's much better than CW even if you factor in the chance of an upgrade.

Hi Everyone,

I am after some advice and opinion. I am looking at going to Aus for X'mas dates around 19-21 Dec outbound and inbound 31 Dec - 3 Jan. Not very flexible with dates but am flexible with departure and arrival points (I am London based and am heading to Melbourne as my final destination). I have found the below itinerary on ITA matrix for 2.5k. Do you think I will get it any cheaper? I know it's hard to say but should I sit tight and wait for the sales? Any ideas or suggestions on better fares I would like to hear from you? It is a little bit of a tier point run as I will get 420 x 2 tier points on this return flight.

Oslo (OSL) to Brisbane (BNE) - Thu, Dec 19

Qatar Airways 180 Dep: 7:45AM Arr: 4:20PM 6h 35m Airbus A350 Business (I)

For those dates and destination I would suggest the deal is very good and you should snap it

Was going to say that it was just an OK deal until I saw the dates. Given the weakness of the pound, this is an even better deal than it would have seemed, but QR's fares are generally expensive over Christmas.

I fly out on 19th to Oz for Christmas as well, and this is a good price for this time of year having kept an eye out of many years. I bit the bullet on a much higher fare ages ago, although F on EK / QF metal. Also made it in to a TP run by making it ARN - DXB - SIN - SYD with QF flight numbers.

Thanks for confirming the deal! I saw the QF flight (EK metal) via DXB and SIN. It came out about 3k and I didn’t fancy the look of the EK hard product. Another deal was HEL - BNE via LON and HKG which came up about 2.7k and fewer TP! Alas no Q suite on my journey but I get to go on A350 and A380. happy days!

Looking at anything to Perth (PER) over Xmas but prices seem to be over £3k pp starting from all the regular ex-EU starting points. Can anyone do any better than that?

Can't leave the UK any earlier than the evening of Friday 20th Dec, and must be back on Sunday 4th Jan.
