Thanks! Booked 14-21 oct as a birthday gift to myself

We just booked this for March 2020. Total of £1746 for 2 pax MAD-CUN then MEX-MAD.

We were planning to go to Mexico anyway and use a 2 for 1 voucher, this is only £400 more expensive but obviously we get Avios and TPs. About time there was a deal to somewhere we wanted to go on dates we wanted to travel on!

Found one that almost suited dates we would be able to use, but with the only dates giving the decent fare being a 5 day trip I think that's gonna be a solid no from SWMBO! Thanks for the heads up. Plenty of cheaps flights on the outgoing but the incoming is the tough one.

Is 5 days too long or too short to spend in Mexico? Sounds like a perfect long weekend to me...

Too short and TP to Cost ratio doesn't help sell it. Oh well, next time.

So you spend £400 yet get to keep about 125,000 Avios plus the Avios you get for this flight plus at least 280TP. Sounds good to me.

Yep! Though now we've got yet another voucher to try to use. Might use it for the positioning flights to/from MAD I guess.

I see some relatively cheap JFK-LHR fares for a small window in November (24th-30th) this year - $658 base fare + $1541 taxes (IJN6T2S5)

For those in the UK, I believe this fare you’re seeing is Club World fare of £1,715 ($2,179) during these dates.

Which happens to be Thanksgiving week

Special deals aside, holiday periods usually deliver decent discounts on international flights out of the US, as the travel turns primarily domestic. We'd book ourselves on a flight Thanksgiving morning and have the airport pretty much to ourselves Good time to get on an international flight.

Possible Error Fares

Return Premium Economy fares to the US for under £500

New York, Boston, Denver and San Fran have all cropped up there may be more.

N.B It also appears you can start in MAN, EDI, GLA, LBA etc for around £20 more

Whoops I hadn't noticed. I always think good BA W deals should be mentioned here just because of how easy they are to upgrade to CW with Avios but I may be wrong to do so :/ .
