What's all this Merry Xmas lark all about? Today (Dec 25) would be a good day for a b2b or a TP run from LHR... roads not congested, avoid tedious family members and conflicts over the turkey and rubbish on tv etc...

Having just returned to my hotel in NYC after an arduous search for a restaurant that will serve me their usual food without any Xmas trappings (or surcharges) I logged in to FT and was surprised to see that, despite the fact it is now Christmas In the U.K., no Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays thread appeared to have been started on the BA forum. Now I appreciate that any such thread would inevitably be well OT, and that starting one might well get me suspended or some such, but since I seem to have been recognised as this forum's official miserable git/irredeemable Scrooge I thought I might just be given special licence to have a go, so...
Even though Christmas is a faux pagan exploit-fest littered with overpriced tat and monstrous sentimentality, it seems to mean something to a lot of the people I know; and since I have come to admire/respect/appreciate the contribution of so many contributors here I thought I'd take the chance to wish you all Merry Christmas. I apologise in advance to those who don't celebrate this tawdry festival and who consider my reference to it religiousist/racist/whatever (I'm with you in spirit I promise).

Merry Christmas to all from the south of England, home to the drone flyers (allegedly).
And to think I thought I was mad trying to do a sporadic b2b yesterday thinking I'd get stuck somewhere... I am in awe of the commitment of you all wherever you're flying!
