Chennai Island MAA?

Chennai Island MAA?

Hi all,

Does anybody know why BA refer to MAA as Chennai Island when it isnít remotely Island like? Canít find any reference to it elsewhere.

Someone at Waterside probably thinks that JER is also in the Chennai Islands...

Perhaps a reference to Madras' Island Grounds, where Blťriot work on a test version of the bi-plane. That's a river island to the north of Chennai.

It is on the coast and there are inland waterways surrounding it - ok not as much as Kerala but some. Donít know whether that helps at all
