What have you found when you checked the usual flight websites? What is ‘good’ to you? Perhaps check out the mileage run thread.

I've checked pretty much all airports in Aus & in NZ but everything way over 2k
I'm looking for anything between 1k-1500 and 6-700 tp's and above

It's been a few years, but as I recall HKG is not a great place to start a run. Fares on legacy carriers (especially CX) are pretty high despite LCC competition. If you've got the stomach for it, you can try starting a run in BKK or TPE and then sort out positioning flights. Depending on how "mid" in April you're talking, you'll also run into a problem with the Easter holiday, April 21 next year, which is a big travel period because it's a long weekend in HK.

Keep an eye out for MH J class fares to Australia and NZ. Can often be had to Australia for £1400. Which is cheap for HK.

I don't mind starting in BKK or even in TPE and yeah it's the week of easter that's when I'm looking for

If this is for BAEC credit, then beware of the zero tier points on MH I-class fares.

We got our visa in about a week,
I had to change my occupation on the form, (being a photographer, I was told to state that I had another occupation)

so true, here in Atlanta, there is a contractor that works for the Chinese Embassy, went Monday, called on Friday to pick up
The nice thing is that they gave us a 10 year visa without us even asking.. guess China wants us to keep coming back

Often see some good Qantas premium economy fares from HKG to New Zealand cities. The Aust-NZ flight when available books into business class bumping up the tier point haul.
