I’d like to somehow trade my short haul commute to long haul. I find the shourthaul much more tiring....weekly 03:45 alarm, hour’s drive to airport, queue, flight, holding pattern over large country houses, bus to terminal, train, tube......then reverse on Thursday and home by bedtime. Long haul I can put my feet up, watch films, drink wine.....

Yesterday I did EDI DOH BLR and I’m more refreshed than an EDI LGW

I feel a career change is due

Meanwhile at the other end of the spectrum, I am on my highest ever at 26 flights: 10 BA, 4 QR, 4 AK, 3 MH, 2 SV, 2 Q2, 1 3K. All of which were personal - no business for me.

I would love to do some of the travel patterns that some of you guys do!

26 for me too and that's more than I would like. Most were business. I try to avoid flying and have refused several trips where a conference call was perfectly sufficient. Time spent on a plane is time wasted for me unless horizontal and asleep.

I'm here at 25 sectors, my highest ever! I'm possibly one of a few here who would like to 200!

Maybe you and I both need to find some of these 200 sector folks and offer them a swap for our travel patterns!

Indeed. By the sounds of it there are full time pilots who fly less than these people!

100 sectors per year would really be hell for me, had a busy year by my standards with 40 sectors, 36 of which were in economy. Mostly Madrid and Brussels and I’m heartily sick of seeing both of those places this year.

I feel for you. I did 10 years of commuting short haul. There is a lot you can optimise in terms of knowing the perfect route through a terminal, the perfect seats on a given plane type - but in the end it still s,cks. Especially at 5 TP a pop.

Just how I feel. I will end on about 58 for the year but have managed to lose most SH flights (hooray).

I know. One round trip to BLR via DOH in J has eclipsed about a year's worth of commutes to LGW in terms of TPs. Points on those weekly commutes are hard won!
