Are Gold Greetings becoming more frequent?

I am probably out of norm... this year (last year we missed only once or maybe twice) we flew ET,PE, CE,CW,F. I think we scored 100% of time that someone came to us and thank us for flying BA. I didn count how many sectors but mostly transatlantic or feeder short haul.
the only difference before was last year, they came to me first then my wife or just came to me. This year, they usually went to my wife first before came to me. Couple times "say hi" to our children.
We experienced a little awkward time once. We are GGL, one time, we sat across isle to someone holding gold tag on carryon in CW. Right after greeting me, I saw the guy sat straight (seemed get ready to be greeted), but the CSM just walked pass him...

Judging by the number of times the subject comes up on here it would seem many are bothered....they will always deny it of course.

I have been blown by the chap next to me got the gold greeting but nothing for me (also gold)... I guess it's that I must be either very ugly or imposing

Can't remember the last one I had on BA. Had one last week on IB, and then, weirdly, this week on Wednesday again on IB the CSM comes down as far as my row and does the greeting for the lady sat next to me but not for me. Working off an iPad so I am assuming he had up to date info etc.

Clearly wasn't going to say anything, just all seems a bit random to me....

BA Gold, every year for the past 8 years.

Not one single gold greeting on BA for the last 7 of those.

Started using Cathay Pacific LHR or LGW to HKG and HKG to MNL (about 16 flights in the last 12 months)

Gold (Well, Emerald I guess) greetings on every flight.

BA Dont GAF anymore.

You're definitely one that's bothered.

May I ask why it irks you so much?

Just to welcome you to Flyertalk and welcome you to the BA forum pboniface. No shortage of greetings in this forum at least. That indeed is a long stretch without a Gold greeting. Perhaps some of them have been the subtle version where you are spoken to consistently by name rather than "Sir" or "Madam". On shorter sectors it isn't realistic (and you won't get it on Cathay on PEK-HKG on a Friday afternoon either). On a longer sector I would hope you get some acknowledgement at some point.

Fantastic surprise on the BACF flight this eve - FRA-LCY.

During boarding CC double-checked if Iíve just turned Gold and I said yes.

Soon after take-off she brought a glass of champagne, crisps and a hand-written card.

I donít care much for champagne but the gesture for sure touched my heart !!!

All the more surprising for being a short BACF service, rather than say a longer MF route. Welcome to Gold kosy91, and though it isn't strictly necessary you may want to update your FT profile otherwise people won't know who you are.
