Back to back at MAN?
Hi all, considering doing a LHR-MAN-JFK-LHR-MAN-LHR trip in J/F as a simple way to get some extra TPs - question is, as I’d likely book the outbound LHR-MAN and inbound MAN-LHR as a seperate ticket, how easy is it to do back-to-backs at MAN? Do domestic arrivals deposit you in the departure hall or do you have to to clear arrivals then go back through departures? Any experiences much appreciated! Cheers

I’ve never done a B2B at MAN. Apparently you can go through flight connections but I would be cautious of this. They also use biometrics at MAN so you would need to have these.
If you did get off and have to go landside it takes approx 4 minutes from the jet bridge through the domestic arrivals area and back to security. The issue will be security. It’s dire at MAN and can easily take 20
minutes in fast track, especially at busy times.
I wouldn’t want to do it at MAN. But would try another domestic.

Ive seen reports of people ‘connecting’ airside and not having biometrics captured and offloaded.
id use MAN as a last resort for departures and never for a B2B.
GLA NCL ABZ great domestics for B2B

I'll be the black swan. Been through MAN on BA 4 times this year, security never more than 5 minutes, ( fastrak) even got bag taken for secondary last time as I had an empty drink container in it, 2 more minutes, that was all. They were all around 9 am ish visits. I'm due back for a 7:05 flight next year, that may be busier?

there is a flight transfer channel but you can’t access it when arriving from at least one gate BA often uses. I think 142/143 would be fine but if you arrive on 141 you have no choice but to go landside. You wouldn’t know which gate is being used until you came on to stand.

And no real need to. There are several flights per day and they seem lumped together. Weekdays, there’s departure from LHR at 07:05 and 08:05, 12:05 and 13:15, 17:20 and 18:25.
Why not, for example, fly the 07:05 departure from Heathrow and then return on the 08:05 LHR flight when it returns from MAN at 09:55? Your 07:05 flight would arrive at 08:20, giving you over an hour to get through the airport and clear security, before boarding even commences. You could do the same with the lunchtime flights etc.

The trick is with gate 141 is you need to wait until everyone get off and ask nicely the person to escort you back to the boarding side of gate 141 where they can take your biometric picture and attach it to your boarding pass.
So if you have never been in Manchester airport and not familiar with the set up then I wouldn't suggest a b2b there. (security can be hit and miss usually afternoon is the worst but security also can be really strange. Once I had to take off my jeans and scan it separately... don't ask... took it about 30 min.) I agree GLA or EDI much better.
