True, but hey... it’s FT

The lounge escort on shorthauls is now only for VVIPS on, likewise the car transfer.

The F bus transfers do still happen, albeit it's still a bus.

For long-haul F I've probably had a 60% hit rate with someone meeting me as I walk off the plane, but never for short-haul.

Is that 33k extra just for DOH-MCT?

DOH-MCT should be 18k avios in F one way. If there was J that would be 9k. So the extra is 9k one way.

I flew MCT-DOH sector a week ago. Nothing special. Standard recliner seat.

Meal was OK but not exceptional.

Meal on MCT-DOH in First.

By the way, flight MCT-DOH was First. Another sector DOH-SLL was Business. Not sure how QR decides the class of service. Aircraft and service was essentially the same.

@ GetSetJetSet - after another quick read of the thread - and conscious that your flights would be booked as awards - I felt it worth mentioning that QR have in the past imposed restrictions on Al Safwa lounge access in such cases. Not sure how important this aspect is to you ... ?
I’m not fully au fait with the current situation (have always flown QR on revenue tickets myself), but our ever-helpful Mod msm2000uk will almost certainly be able to offer definitive guidance.

A full award ticket does not impose any restrictions compared to an upgrade

It won't price online but when I called in to BA they said 33k + tax for GYD-DOH-MCT altogether.

Interestingly, that's the standard assorted bites (at least that's what I call it) presentation in longhaul QSuites, not available on non-QSuite longhaul J routes. I really liked it!
