The babybus (Sweden<> East Coast) Fare meetup thread
There seem to be a couple of groups coalescing around the ex Sweden fares to the east coast. One with the BA1 leg on the 5th June, and another on the 2nd August, both Fridays. It seems there are 5 seats already taken on the 2nd, which include myself and another FTer. Anyone else, make yourself known. It's not that easy to get to the East coast for a grand in CW, so can potentially be used as the basis for an actual stay (perish the thought!).
My routing is as below, I'll set up a wiki too.. I couldn't squeeze out the full 680 TPs which are theoretically available, seems I hit some limit or other as the pricing is trebled after you press the "pay" button. If you're playing with the fare, it will price via bookwithmatrix all the way through into the AA website, but there is a reprice at the last moment. The way of knowing whether this will happen or not is to look at whether there is a flight network price on the first page of bookwithmatrix. If there is a price, AA will be OK. If not, the fare will be repriced. As of just now (when I checked) this routing was pricing OK. My routing avoids overnighting in New York which is a little expensive, and it gets me onto the top deck of a 747 on the way back, which I've never done so looking forward to that. You can start in GOT (or open jaw between GOT and ARN I think) and can also route back through PHL or BOS. I think you can get both HEL shuffles plus a maximum of three internal US flights, that seemed to be the limit I hit. It looks like some of the fare inventory has already gone... but the sale fare is still doable albeit with a forced overnight in Sweden at the start, and a slightly later hop from Orlando to Miami.

Forced overnight can be in the Jumbo hotel at ARN. That's where I'll be, albeit with the family, in the cockpit suite, so keep the noise down please.

Probably a question to take off-board but how/where could I book this (I can see a struggle to pay it all in one go but I can't price it up on ba.com and convert it to a +hotel booking as one of the AA flights doesn't appear there) |

Exactly the same routing as @bisonrav posted - I reverted to his one, but it only quoted the fare change when I went to put my cc info in and pay - UK credit card but putting the billing address as per his advice.

Well, have picked a few seats on the AA domestic legs, and the booking seems to be choosing me what it thinks I want on the other legs... Any advice for a first time LH flyer?

For the BA legs, use BA MMB. Put the AA Record Locator into the Qantas (yes) MMB and a little bit down the page it will give you a PNR which you can use elsewhere. You may also find the booking pops up there anyway.
Finnair you'll probably need the online chat. |
It's now appeared in my app, although the first Finnair flight is missing from the booking on Qantas and BA, but is showing on AA.

Tweet AA - my original booking had 3 different references. Plug them into AA/BA/FY and each will have a different set of flights you can pick seats on.

Ok, I've made this work:

OK, so what you need to do is to go onto Finnair live chat, give them the AA record locator and explain you need to select seats on the Finnair flights. They'll give you another PNR you can use to select seats on Finnair, that will also allow you to see the whole itinerary on BA.COM if you want to. I had to reenter my personal details onto the Finnair PNR including BAEC number. Curiously it allowed me to select a seat on the BA HEL->LHR leg which I couldn't on the Qantas PNR (but I could select the babybus and 747 seats).

Same situation with me. So, I now have an AA PNR, a BA PNR and an AY PNR.
@bisonrav have you been able to book a seat on AY808? I've got it to come up under the AY PNR but the page stalls when trying to bring up the seat map. |
Add your frequent flyer details to the AY PNR. Then you can select from the 4 available seats... for some reason the BAEC number isn't carried through |
