Wiki updated. Now matching @bisonrav and @awoxp for the 1752 mile diversion via Texas. Thanks to everyone for the tip off and assistance from a first timer to a tier point run as big as this.

I suppose I should book a hotel in Austin too now.

hey folks,

just a short question. do you have your babybus TP run on a BA or an AA ticket? im jealous of all the reroutings you got. my BA Agents on the phone wont give me those and have quite strong rules...

It's an AA ticket from Stockholm, and they allowed the updates via Twitter direct message.

There are pros and cons, but in general AA is very flexible on re-routings on significant changes.

Just added mine up - I went with the simpler direct positioning flights.

All in, I make it 800TP and 37,588 Avios. And possibly the need for a holiday afterwards to recover...
For the main trip, 3 sectors on AY, 3 on BA and 5 on AA.

Unable to get that additional outbound routing as my JFK MCT problem had already been sorted after last month's changes with a connection down the east coast, but at least I have got my economy return to JFK changed back into first.

The agent said that the AA re-booking engine prioritises timings, to be as close to the original as possible, over cabin class. Maybe I need to swot up use of twitter as it seems to work well.

NEW:
02AUG AA2772 2040 JFK-AUS
03AUG AA1176 0842 AUS-DFW
03AUG AA2314 1253 DFW-MCO
03AUG AA1194 1937 MCO-MIA

All in, another 80 TP from the original itinerary
Along with yourself, bisonrav and mtikky I am going to try and get this revised routing.

I noticed in the Wiki, above, that the flight number for the JFK-AUS is wrong. Once I have re-booked I will correct it.

I did note that this resulted in a ticket reissue as the cost of mine has disappeared off AA and now shows as an “exchange”.

Same PNR for all three airlines as from before however so all is good.

Never update a wiki when watching Game of Thrones. Even the second time through.

Is there someone on BA1 at 2nd August who already flew or will fly the new BA soft First Class?
If so, could one of you awesome guys bring me a new First Class amenity Kit - I can change against another one if wanted

Very envious of this. As a data point, when I did my BA1 to AA. TP run, for some reason AA has BA1 as international as it’s from London and the system only books flights allowing the BA INT to AA DOM MCT. They couldn’t override this for love nor money and didn’t grasp the concept of pre-clearance in SNN as it was an international flight arriving from London.

I resigned myself to a night at JFK and stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for around $160. What it lacked in TLC and this was mainly the rooms (80s motel carpet and massive A/C unit) it more than made up for in the public areas, and warm hospitable staff. To get there you take the air train to the hotel shuttle/car rental stop and they return you to the terminal of your choice. I wasn’t overly fussed as at the time I booked my trip I was flying DUB-LCY-MAD-JFK and BA pulled the LCY-MAD part so I was expecting to either have to go direct from DUB or back via LHR and the ‘helpful’ AA agent said, oh I’ve got s one stop flight from LCY to JFK leaving 30 mins after you were originally due to depart but it gets into JFK 5 hours earlier, would that do for you..... when I said it would be she said she needed to get her manager to override availability which would take a while.

Unfortunately the MCT table makes absolutely no allowance for BA1 and ore clearance so it’s subject to the normal blanket 2 hours for all T7->T8 connections.

Could anyone who knows MIA recommend a hotel from the plethora of options near the airport?

On the return leg of this fare, I have a 12 hour overnight at MIA before the first MIA-JFK (I arrive from LAS the previous evening about 20:20, and it's an 08:40-odd departure the next morning).

I'll probably do a Hilton redemption - there are a few around 30000 points, and the Blue Lagoon looks OK.
