Same here - no notification but a few timing changes, including a 44 minute connection at DCA.

[EDIT] in fact I have the same changes when viewed on the website, not updated yet on the app. Generally all improvements so pretty happy with the results. Let's see if the luck holds for the next shuffle.

I am on an INV-BOS fare. Due to lots of cancellations on the JFK-BOS route that weekend I am doing LGA-BOS on Saturday (first time ever at LGA for me), and on Sunday I am now rebooked on the direct BOS-LHR flight rather than connecting back through JFK - 62K on the BA112 on Sunday should now be free if anyone wants it.

I have amended the wiki with my flights.

This'll be interesting. On my return trip, the leisurely hour or so connection in DCA has become a 16 minute change:
AA1998 MIA 11:59 - DCA 14:37
AA5158 DCA 14:53 - JFK 16:27
Assuming this isn't really feasible, especially as I only have a couple of hours at JFK before my transatlantic connection (so little leeway if delayed), what are my options here?

I presume I ring up AA and ask them to reroute me - but I'm not familiar with the AA timetable/permissible rerouting options, nor with where is a good place to change. I assume I can't squeeze more than 40+40 TP out of this, so I am looking for the most relaxed/comfortable option possible.

Any suggestions very welcome!

MCT at DCA for this type of connection would be 30 minutes so yes you'll have to change it to something else. In terms of permissible routings I would look at a one way MIA to JFK on that day on aa.com and itamatrix and see what they show.

KARFA is completely correct in this case, but if you wanted to force more sectors in this area, you could enter "AA AA AA" into the routing codes box to force it to show three sectors options between MIA and JFK in order to achieve more TPs. Of course, you would have to find something that would meet the MCT at JFK for your onward TATL flight, and you may find you have to start earlier in the day from MIA. You could try "AA AA AA AA" for 4 sectors if you really wanted, but the likelihood of getting an agent to agree to that is less likely (although not unheard of).

Always a fun conversation, I am sure

Pretty much clear that itinerary will need an earlier start in MIA. There are going to be flights for sure. CLT is an alternative. 30 mins at DCA is dicey, to be frank, it's not unusual to be held on the tarmac for 10/20 mins there while waiting for traffic to clear gate areas out and if you have to transfer from one pier to the next on the bus, you could be really hosed. Frequencies are high so the theory is that there's decent slack in the system to be re-routed, someone is always missing connections there, but if you're needing to make another, further flight it's a risky proposition in my view. Last two times connecting at DCA I was sit on a plane for 20+ minutes both times, on the ground, waiting for a way to get to a gate. First time a two hour leisurely connection turned into a 15 minute smash&grab in the lounge, the second time i had an hour connection and I made it as barely for the start of boarding. 30 mins and I would clearly have missed both connections.

i know, i wont be seeing any of you but since everyone tells his rebookings, here's a little story of good old Simon from TXL.

November 2018: ARN-HEL-LHR/LCY-SNN-JFK-JFK-CLT-MIA-MSY-PHL-LHR-HEL-ARN
December 2018: Changing dates of travel since BA01 was cancelled on Sunday June 30th...
January 2019: ARN-HEL-LHR/LCY-SNN-JFK-JFK-MIA-MSY-PHL-LHR-HEL-ARN
later January 2019: ARN-HEL-LHR/LCY-SNN-JFK-JFK-MIA-MSY-ORD-LHR-HEL-ARN
April 2019: ARN-HEL-LHR/LCY-SNN-JFK-JFK-MIA-MSY-DFW-LHR-HEL-ARN

i hope everything works out.

Thank you @KARFA, @rossmacd, and @MarkedMan - very helpful. As usual, the forum is a wealth of knowledge.

When I have a moment in the next week, I will look through the matrix and see what options there are. I will probably aim for a simple 40+40 and depart MIA earlier, I guess via CLT, MCO, PHL or DCA. The tidbits of info are handy.

If I were going for a simple 40+40 routing as above, do people have any particular preferred options?

No problem

Personally, I would take a direct MIA to JFK option, specifically because you can choose a flat bed 767 option, which beats any other option.

Failing that, I would say that connection options in order of preference would be RDU, DCA, CLT then PHL. I have never done MCO, so cannot comment on this one. I am sure others will have differing opinions.

So, I finally got round to ringing AA, and it turns out I had two changes - not just one. The direct JFK-DCA on the outbound had changed to a route via CLT (an extra 40TP) but that required a 1hr55 change at JFK which wouldn't work. I could in theory have accepted an earlier transatlantic inbound from LHR, but that would defeat the point of this fare, surely!

In the end I accepted an overnight in New York, with a reroute the following morning on a direct JFK-MIA. I also accepted the same on the reverse as @rossmacd suggested upthread. I lose 80TP overall, but still scrape 600 from the fare to make Silver, which was my goal - without including the nested economy trip to LAS.

I'll update the Wiki shortly, but my new route is effectively ARN-HEL-LHR LCY-JFK JFK - MIA and return, with a nested MIA-LAS. Which will probably be a little less tiring, with more slack between each flight!

Edit: now I'm updating the wiki, I don't know if @Selador has an updated itinerary?
