It seems like we have quite a few are taking advantage of the recent good price on OTP-PHX so I thought it might be a good idea to see if we could put together some ad-hoc meet-ups. I don't want to organise anything as it seems that we are all travelling on different dates and, in some cases different routes, but it would be a shame to be on the same flight or in the same lounge as another FTer, not know and not be able to share a beer and stories... if that is what you want. Of course, if you like to travel alone then that is great too.

So, if you want others to know about your travel plans and fancy saying hi to fellow FTers please post your details and I will add you to the wiki. If you have wiki update access then please, by all means, update the wiki yourself

I am posting my hotel arrangements but if you would rather not do that yourself but wish to post your flights then that is also perfectly fine.

For those that want to read about the Aug 2018 PHX mini-do (quite a few did it!) it is here : https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...ug-2018-a.html

There are some links at the end of the wiki to interesting things to do around Phoenix. Please feel free to add to this list if you wish

I booked my hotels through booking.com as they are all cancellable and I use the ratings there and on Tripadvisor to determine if I want to stay there so it looks like the Ramade Plaza is pretty good from what I can tell. Not the cheapest but not too bad at about £90 per night as it has some nice spa and gym facilities which I will definitely use.
I did similar during the OTPO/PHX run this summer. Drove up to Sedona (couple of hours)...highly recommended...spectacular country.

Just had a closer look at the fare rules...

Anyone else wanting to get an OTP-LHR-JFK-LAX-PHX at this price will have to hurry as this fare must be ticketed by end of TODAY!!!!
TICKETS MUST BE ISSUED ON/BEFORE 12NOV 18.

Having never really done a TP run, I have no idea where to even start booking this AA and BA seem to only allow 6 flights on their website. If anyone has any helpful tips, I may just book this...

It's addictive... I suggest finding Google Flights or ITA Matrix first. There are lots of useful threads here. Give me a minute and I'll find some for you.

Thanks. I can price this on ITA via AA so assuming now need to find some time to get approval from HQ and phone AA to book it.

My friend and I are doing a slightly more convoluted trip, making it into a lad's Vegas trip as Aerosmith are playing 50th Anniversary gigs there.

For anyone wondering how to book...

This is my first TP run so I am certainly no expert but I have been following along here on the forum for a while now and so thought I'd have a go. You may have success booking via Matrix powertools online but I found that the best way to book for me was by phone direct with an airline. BA refused to book me on a trip that was using AA codeshares so I had to book through AA. I didn't want to use a travel agent line Priceline or Travel Network... it can get difficult if things don't go smoothly (irops). I was just careful to tell them which flights I wanted and in what booking classes and they were fine... the price worked out to the same price as I found on Matrix to the penny!.

Good luck.

I was tempted by this. Amex said they could not book the flights you had - max 2 stops, not 3!

...another strange one. The agent at Amex didn't have a clue and I had to walk him through the booking code, flight no.s etc etc...everything. He then had to go away for half an hour but came back with exactly the right itinerary at the same price and it was ticketed immediately.

I was not so lucky. The amex person I spoke to was not very competent then - yes, I gave him all the flight details etc. It was not meant to be

I’d be tempted to leave the airport. Get a shuttle bus to the Hilton or similar and grab a beer or two and then head back.

You may also want to think about starting a wiki!
