It seems like we have quite a few are taking advantage of the recent good price on OTP-PHX so I thought it might be a good idea to see if we could put together some ad-hoc meet-ups. I don't want to organise anything as it seems that we are all travelling on different dates and, in some cases different routes, but it would be a shame to be on the same flight or in the same lounge as another FTer, not know and not be able to share a beer and stories... if that is what you want. Of course, if you like to travel alone then that is great too.

So, if you want others to know about your travel plans and fancy saying hi to fellow FTers please post your details and I will add you to the wiki. If you have wiki update access then please, by all means, update the wiki yourself

I am posting my hotel arrangements but if you would rather not do that yourself but wish to post your flights then that is also perfectly fine.

For those that want to read about the Aug 2018 PHX mini-do (quite a few did it!) it is here : https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...ug-2018-a.html

There are some links at the end of the wiki to interesting things to do around Phoenix. Please feel free to add to this list if you wish

Note: Times are DEPARTURE times.

I am heading out to PHX from OTP on the 29th of March - struggled to get flights this time so doing it via Boston and Philadelphia... I also managed to book via BA and use a GUF to get First on the transatlantic legs

I'll put together a wiki in the next day or two so anyone who wants to be included that hasn't done so yet please include your itinerary (flights, dates etc) in the thread and I'll comply a list of who is travelling when.

19/4 BA173/AA6214 1120 LHR to JFK
19/4 AA1587 1640 JFK to PHX

Just doing the wiki but it looks like your dates are a little wrong. If you'd like to correct them I'll stick them on the wiki

Looks like there might be a chance for us to meet up at JFK?

I have put into the wiki the itineraries I know of. Please check your own and either correct yourself or let me know and I will correct (this is very prone to error so I may have made one or two mistakes!!!)

Looks like you could have a party on the BA886 on the 22nd !!!

Many thanks snaxmuppet for putting together the wiki and thanks for pointing out the date mix up.
I have now amended the itinerary and it should be correct.
Let's definitely try to meet in the flagship lounge in JFK - look forward!

snaxmuppet We even seem to be on the same flight LAX-PHX leaving in the morning. I am probably booking a cheap hotel at LAX via Hotwire. Sometimes the Westin is as cheap as USD 70 and quite OK. Lounge is unfortunately closing at midnight.

I am an hour later than you so I don't think there is much point in getting a hotel at LAX. I'll probably just hunker down in a corner somewhere until the lounge opens I expect

This clearly wasn't to be this time. Having gained approval, I had limited time to contact AA around childcare, and by the time I did, it seemed like I class was disappearing before my eyes.

Look forward to the next opportunity, and kudos to those that provided me a few pointers

So sorry Lava... Maybe next time.

(I have been reminded that is always easier (or quicker) to ask for forgiveness, rather than permission...).

For what it's worth there seems to be availability in August for around £1400 ..

Thanks @H2L - Perhaps I will also try harder next time/cancel the meetings that got in the way of calling AA. I did learn a few things, especially how to ask an agent for a booking with 8 segments.

To your point about approval, even Mrs LavaJava said just book it next time and tell her that I will buy her a nice present

That's a pity @lavajava. Next time then.

I still am looking for another run because after this one I will still need 700TP to get Gold. I am on the lookout for a good 600-700TP trip at a great price. £1400 for this trip would have been too pricey for me otherwise I'd just do it again!!!

BTW... just spoke to Mrs Snaxmuppet and she agrees... I should just book it and grovel with a nice pressie after... "... always works better for me..." she said
