......and of course the only free space with power now is right in front of the Piano. I have scoped it all out though and the pianist keys off at 15:00 - I'll be hiding in a cabana then!!
I have downloaded Piano for Dummies and will give it a quick "speed read" this arvo, it should place me well for a quick concert this evening after the odd dry martini or two. I feel a 20 minute Smoke on The Water coming on.

Might I suggest the first minute or so of this.

Yeah, as a trained musician, I'm well aware of it, although I still find it sad that one requires a middleman just to get work, hence why I never pursued music as a career actively. Besides, what do you call professional? Most of my peers are professional musicians full time and don't use agents. When one reaches the heights of Horovitz, Lang Lang, Heifitz, etc, agents are hardly surprising.

I know the piano has been in the CCR for a while but there always seemed to be a set of headphones for the budding Mrs Mills (Teenagers you will need to google that reference!) Tonight an aspiring Russ Conway (teenagers you know the drill) is battering the ivories for all to hear, is this a new feature to reduce crowding.
As it is Haloween, I wondered if it was the ghost of Liberace (I bet most people here wouldn't know how to pronounce that),
[quote} Recent experience is that it drowns out insipid self important phone calls, morons on FaceTime for all to hear and much else very effectively. [/quote]
If I really thought that, I would offer to dance on the thing - and it is a long time since I danced on a piano. You'd need to guest me as I'm far too un-self-important to be in there unescorted.

In a museum here in Russia, which has an exhibition of Monet and his contemporaries, I consulted with museum management then offered the following short programme to reflect the art on display: Clair de lune (Debussy), Sicilienne (Faur) and Pavane pour un enfant dfunt (Ravel). It went down quite well and I think such a series of pieces would be fine in the CCR lounge. I don’t usually do such things, but it seemed appropriate in this case. My temptation to play the 2nd movement of the 2me sonate of Boulez was quickly flattened when I saw how difficult it was (although I did play it in the past!)
