Lounge in HEL?

Flying HEL-LHR in J end of December on BA tix and metal and the lounge options seem like slim pickings. Which do I choose?

[email protected], using the travel class to gain entry
BA's lounge according to the OW website - Looks to me like my dad's living room, doesn't really have the business class glamour I was hoping for.

Finnair Lounge non-Schengen, using OW Sapphire status to gain entry
I've been here before and liked it, but I hear it's currently under renovation and they're doing microwave food on plastic cutlery in the meantime.

Aspire Lounge, using Amex Gold/Lounge Club to gain entry
Looks nicer than [email protected], but I'm concerned I might have to pay for a guest for my non-status fellow passenger in J. Also looks like a bit of a hike from the lounge at the transfer desk to gate 2437G where a bus will drive halfway to London.

Judging by the OW website, ideally I'd want the Finnair Schengen lounge, but I read on Finnair's website it's not available for non-Schengen departures.

What are your recommendations?

Whilst the AY lounge in the non-Schengen area is undergoing refurbishment and are at reduced capacity it seems those on BA metal are not being given access based on recent comments in this thread LHR-HEL run & meet-up thread

The only lounge you might get access in based on status/cabin on BA atm is the [email protected] lounge.

Aw, that's too bad. Thanks for the info!

Anyone have experience with the Aspire Lounge in HEL and/or getting in with Lounge Club with a guest?

I did gain access recently because I was flying AY, and you're really not missing much. Couldn't even find a seat, and there were very minimal food offerings. People flying JAL received a 20 voucher instead, that seemed like the best deal!

No, every LON flight I've ever been on from HEL is after the passport check.

Non-Schengen.

The Finnair lounge was the best but i dont know what the refurbishments entail, and food wasnt its strong suit in the first place.

Oh for gods sake !!! Was hoping to have a lovely sauna on my upcoming trip to HEL with oneworld Emerald access, travelling in Y. I will try and sneak into the schengen area lounge then - (travelling MAD-LON I have done this last month to access the schengen T4S lounge - they then bus you to the gate non-schengen)

Hopefully HEL is equally as obliging on the day.

when you arrive you can just go through passport control to the schengen area. when you want to head to the gate just walk back and through passport control again. HEL is just one big terminal.

According to the Finnair website, OW Emerald + Sapphire can only access the AY Schengen lounge when their flight departs from the Schengen area: https://www.finnair.com/fi/gb/inform...irport/lounges

I guess there's no harm in asking though, and if no luck, traipsing over to the [email protected] lounge!

I still wonder about Aspire with a guest on Lounge Club though.

I recently travelled back from Helsinki and was told at check in to use the Finnair lounge and indeed was accepted - flying CE but only Bronze. At breakfast time there was very little on offer so I ended up going back to the [email protected] lounge anyway where there was a much better selection of food on offer.

If you are denied access to a OW carrier lounge and you are travelling J or have the appropriate status, I would kick up a stink until they let you in. This goes for HEL as much as anywhere.

I've never been denied access to the non-schengen Finnair lounge in HEL (though have heard of it)
