Splitting miniature spirit bottles
Flight back from Dublin.
Ordered a gin & tonic - was surprised that the gin was half the bottle.
Apparently this is now required on BA flights.
Makes me wonder as to what they now do with the other half?
Is this new? Another cut back?

I believe brand standard now is half a spirit and tonics mixed in the galley and brought out, you need to ask now for whole bottle / double measure / just bring it all out and do it yourself u

We now mix the drink for you unless you ask us not too, what we don’t serve we keep to mix the next drink, this is absolutely not an attempt to save money or be mean spirited.

What's the point of paying for CE/CW if you don't get a decent double tot? I am appalled
Not really, just what one expects from BA these days. Thanks, CIHY, I know what to say in future. ^
There used to be a derogatory military phrase called POSB (Post Office Savings Book) which was used to refer to those who never bought a round of drinks and just saved every penny they could. The same POSB term applies to BA.

He mixed the drink - and then I said 'did you just split the bottle?'
He said 'yes, we have to now'.
I hope when we fly first they will not do that!!!

CIHY - Were you given any management direction as to why this is now the case? Did we inadvertently request it? 😉

What do you think is the correct balance of spirit to mixer? Not carping at all, just interested in your thoughts.

I've always asked for a gin and two tonics, half the bottle goes in first with one tonic, then (just as the ice is melting) the rest goes in with the other tonic - but I like a long mix.

Half a miniature is a single measure, as you’d get in any UK bar. The cans of mixer are only 150ml so a single is probably considered by most to be a reasonable mix. Of course, if you think differently then, as CIHY mentioned, you’re always welcome to mix your own. Just ask the crew.
