New to FT
Hello all, I have been reading FT and the BAEC forum for quite some time now and have been informed and entertained in equal measure. I have now decided to take the plunge and register in order to participate fully. On a couple of threads, I can offer an insight. For example, on a recent CE flight from AMS to LHR, I was greeted as a GCH. I was probably the second or third passenger to get the greeting and even my wife commented that it was a while since the last time. Incidentally, this flight was on a soon-to-be-retired B767; registration G-BZHC. A number of passengers complained that the aircraft looked tired and that overhead locker space was small. Shortly thereafter the AMS flight I took four more CE flights with no greeting. My wife and family will be in CW to JFK on Saturday and will report back here on that flight -top deck on the venerable B747-400. We are also taking a number of domestic AA flights in First and I have a question; as a OWE member holding an AA first class ticket will me and my family gain access to any Admirals Club lounge at JFK, PHX, LAS or LGA ? I think not but would welcome all your advice on this and any other lounge alternatives, Thanks for for reading this far, Yours, JetsetMonty |

Any OneWorld Emerald or Sapphire plus one guest can access not only the Admiral's Club but the AA Flagship Lounge where it exists. It is only one guest per elite member though, which may or may not work for the size / status of your party. As to ticket status, if it's a "traditional" domestic First it won't give any lounge access per se. If it's a "Flagship" First on a 3-class transcontinental flight then all such ticket holders should get Flagship lounge access. I don't think AA has any lounge at LAS. |
Agree - just one guest though (although BA Silver also get access plus one guest, if anyone else in your party has status).
Most Admiral Clubs are pretty forgettable so you're not missing much. The exception here is the Flagship at JFK which is really quite nice: sit-down dining is for passengers on long-haul First class only, but the rest of the lounge has lots of good spaces to relax, decent buffet food and free-pour champagne (often decent brands) - definitely worth a visit there for you plus one guest! |
In LAS you won't get any lounge access unfortunately. You can pay to go in a couple but in all honesty it's not worth it; eat on the strip first or airside :)
And welcome to FT JetsetMonty |
Welcome to Flyertalk and the BA Board JetSetMonty and now you have taken the plunge to join I am sure you will have lots of experience to add to this place. There is a dedicated thread on GCH greetings here so you can add your own data points if you so wish.
The BA Forum Dashboard is worth a look if you haven't already read some of it, a great resource of information on here from lounge access, seating queries and dozens of other topics. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...dashboard.html Anyhow, welcome aboard and I hope you enjoy FT! |
as OWE you can access the Admirals Club and Flagships.
I like the Admirals clubs as they have a bar! Also as OWE you will be able to get premium drink coupons (2 each) as well. Depending on your ticket the bartender will either scan your BP or the lounge agent will give you actual coupons. Enjoy FT! |

You get 2 when you enter the club, but in my experience you are not limited to 2. During long layovers, I have never been denied extra coupons when I ask the front desk.
Hi everyone, Thanks for all your replies - as ever always insightful. Currently sat in the Galleries Lounge at Satellie B awaiting our flight to JFK thanks again JetSetMonty |

However then you get lovely staff like the (older) guy at CLT who refuses to acknowledge the existence of coupons or BPs and just dispenses whatever drink you ask for regardless :D |

I think not but would welcome all your advice on this and any other lounge alternatives, They do not sell walk-up day passes to clubs that are under construction. I just looked at the website and as of today that includes Boston, Charlotte and DFW. At DFW there are four ACs, one in each terminal. If you cannot buy a day pass in one club, due to construction, just ask about the others. |
If you are not flying as an AA elite but BA then you can access Admirals Club or Flagship lounges regardless of flying domestic. It is only AA’s own frequent flyers who are not entitled to enter Admirals Clubs (unless this has been altered recently). |
Thanks again everyone. This morning at JFK when checking in for our flight to PHX the agent directed us to the Admirals Club where we had no problem getting in. I am OWE and my wife and children are Bronze. JetSetMonty |
