Hmmm ... Wiki ... “In addition, CVG is the fastest-growing cargo airport in North America.[8] The airport is a global hub for both Amazon Air and DHL Aviation, handling numerous domestic and international cargo flights every day.[9] Overall, CVG ranks 4th in North America for total cargo operations.[10]”
However, just a random pin in the map, and CVG cargo isn’t necessarily BA cargo.

Having said that, this is yet another brilliant example of BA communications. Once staff were the last to know about events (I had friends who knew from friends that their jobs were disappearing), not some staff might get told something, whilst the remainder of the company get zilch.
One thing is for certain, I'll give Network Development a Christmas gift of a world atlas. I think they need it.

I have a lot of friends in Kentucky, and recall flying into Cincinatti from LHR years ago (1998 I believe).
I'm going to say that I think I flew the route with BA, but cannot be certain. I dare say someone can find a way of searching old routes.
My memories from the flight were:
1) It was the first time I'd ever flown long-haul by myself.
2) I had to wear my ticket and passport round my neck, and was escorted through the airport with another passenger as Unaccompanied Minors.
3) The other unaccompanied minor, was a girl who was truly beautiful (in my 13 year old eyes).
4) I was in a smaller economy cabin - I seem to recall it was split by a set of doors.

I think it would be a bit strange if they reopened Charlotte just a few years after closing it and doubling AA's effort. It's an AA hub so I suspect AA is better placed to keep the route.
I agree with many of the other suggestions here. STL would have a very strong case I would think. Used to be a major airport at the time of TWA but is still an important metropolis with a lot of good local connections. CVG but personally, I would have thought CLE might have got more potential now that DL stopped flying TATL from there (though of course, conversely one could say that if it was not worth DL's while BA might struggle, but for DL, it's just too close to DTW, and conversely DL too strong in DTW so I'd be surprised if BA attacked them there). I do think PDX and SLC have potential though they also have competition. Dark horses: some pointless airport in an area already served like Hartford or something and lovely San Antonio.
