Tier points on AA First Class

Can anyone help clarify the level of their points I will earn on AA First Class Domestic. I am planning to book direct with AA for PHX- HNL return so not part of a BA or AA J class journey.

AA first gives BA Club TPs... besides the transcon "real" first, where they have a business that gives club TPs :-)

Hi,

So it will be 140tps each way. ( However PHX-HNL will be on an older 757).

Regards

Although marketed as "First" when you book a domestic flight in the First Class cabin you are ticketed as if it were a business class ticket. You will therefore earn TPs based on that. For PHX - HNL in business you'd earn 140 TPs each way.

From part 06 of post 5 in the Guide:
Tier Points earned on flights operated by American Airlines within the United States are calculated per fare class rather than cabin. This means the Tier Points you earn for domestic First on AA two class services will be based on business class rates.

In this case, 140 each way.

And just to clarify, as others have said, on longer routes (over 2500 miles) you will get 140 TP each way in First Class (on two class planes). There are however a few routes where both business and "Flagship First" are offered (3-class service). On these you would get 210 TP each way, as I did yesterday JFK->SFO. You need I believe an A or F fare for the 210 TPs

PHX-HNL gets a daily A330 in the winter, and for a longer period this winter than last year.

140 TP for sectors over 2000 miles, otherwise just 40 TP.

I once made the mistake of doing CLT-PHX rather than PHL-PHX. Fortunately I didn’t need the extra TPs.

Isn't this booking class dependant? If the domestic first segment books into F or A (e.g. as part of a long haul segment in F) it should be 60/210 tier points?

The BA Avios calculator spells it out clearly ... as you say, depends on booking class. Sadly I usually find I’m in I.

Correct, but there are only 3 routes that have F/A class, JFK-LAX, JFK-SFO and MIA-LAX when it is run with the B77W which it is not currently.

if you can route through Dallas, AA run a 767/777 on the HNL route with flat bed seating - 140 TPs each way in "First" (no true first class on this aircraft)
