IAD increasing from 2 Daily to 16 x weekly from 02SEP18
BA are increasing flights to IAD from 2 x daily to 16 x weekly from 02SEP18. The additional flights will operate through until the start of the W18 schedule when, as previously posted in a different thread , flights will increase to 17 x weekly. The Below are details of the changes to the schedule.

Thanks for posting this. What is slightly odd, if I have understood it correctly, is that the 787-9 is going to spend the night in Dulles, and not leave until 20:40 the day after arrival, presumably for crew rotation purposes. Personally I would prefer them to run a morning service / day flight but I know the business community is rarely enthused by that.

This is how IAD used to run back in the mid 2000s through early 2010s, with 3 per day and similar timings on the IAD-LHR segments. In the mid 2000s there was an IAD-LHR dayflight, the 224. The aircraft that operated it left LHR as BA225 around 8pm the night before with a late arrival into IAD similar to the timing of the 265 on this.
The 264/265 rotation used to be a 3 class 767 that left IAD at a similar time to this one with the other flights being a mix of 747/777 depending upon time of year. Once the IAD-LHR dayflight was binned nothing ever overnighted at IAD though.

Undoubtedly useful for some, but as we are imminently resuming trips to DC we will stick to the 217/216 rotation which has served us very well.
Although we are also looking at ‘creative routings’ to DCA ... but arriving there close to midnight doesn’t resonate! I need to poke Matrix a bit harder!

I do it via LCY / SNN / JFK, which may be an interesting experience. Departing Silvertown at 09:40 you arrive into Kennedy at 14:00 hrs, and then over to T8 there for the AA 16:00 service to Reagan which gets in at 17:45.

With the added advantage of getting Uncle T that bit closer to GGL

Yes, that does seem a very inefficient use of an aircraft...

Yes, as a semi regular D.C. visitor for work it’ll be nice to have that kind of evening departure that works far better both for scheduling and the body clock on short trips.

As someone that prefers public transport to cabs a DCA arrival is so much better. The Washington metro is excellent, the extra 40TP helps those of us that barely scrape gold too.

DCA appeals as our destination will be Alexandria, just 3 miles away! Driving some 30 miles round the Beltway after a long flight isn't fun!

That 8pm Sunday night departure out of LHR is really appealing, and I enjoy the window seat on the 787 PE. I've been giving VS most of my PE business ex-US East Coast, especially since I get DL status from it and I hate the BA 777 PE, but I may have to throw BA some business here.

Just come off the latest 264. Interestingly we used the mobile lounges to get to the aircraft as it was on the hard standing. Had no idea that IAD still used them in that role. Quite fun to do really.
It does seem a bit of a waste of an aircraft given it’s on the ground for a day though - using the same crew.
The slot timings work very well for sleep, although this flight was particularly speedy so cut down on that.
