BA AMEX maximum credit limit?

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience of the maximum credit limit AMEX can provide on the British Airways Premium Plus Credit card? I have just been upped to 25K and wonder if this will/can go any higher.

Thanks

Guess it depends on you but this is not the maximum credit limit.

I've got higher, periodically they just seem to up it, even though I've never got close to it!

Itís not like they let you buy cars or houses with the card I find above certain amounts a credit limit is irrelevant, or just get a charge card!

FYI I am at 7.5k, but because I am such a low spender I doubt it will increase even though I pay the balance in full each month !

Where's our manners? Welcome to FT, marble35!

Add me to the list of "Yes, it can definitely be much higher". At one stage, I could certainly have bought a car or a house with mine, subject only to merchant acceptance.

And here I was happy that they gave me a usable limit of 5k when I moved to the UK, whereas no other credit card provider would give me a second look, as I had no credit score They seem to be moving it further up with time, though.

When I received mine, I thought there had been an error and they had inadvertantly put an extra zero in the indicated credit limit as it was so high.

I telephoned them to check, but they said it was correct.

When I recently rang to check on a missing item, they offered me an even higher limit. I thanked them, but declined the offer as I have never spent more than 5% of my existing limit - I only ever use it to pay for flights. I have other cards which give better rewards for other things.

I keep mine at 10k as that's more than sufficient (I now have Amex Plat so I use my BAPP just for booking BA flights and any other transactions where I'll get an Avios boost).

Amex were very willing to boost the limit so I could cover the cost of a very expensive trip to Cuba. The charge was on the card for about a week - I paid for the holiday to get points and section 75 cover and then cleared the balance straight away.

My BA is 35k, SPG is 15k and Gold is 5k.

Amex are by far the most generous with credit limits as long as you build a pattern of on time payments.

Iíve been with them since 2004.
