I shamefully admit that I didn't visit Helsinki when I flew there in January. Getting to the airport hotel was just too cold already (-15C, with -20C announced in the evening).

Will check the wiki and if no one else has added it then i'll update.
Yes I was there a few weeks ago and we had an amazing time. Tend not to go back to places but are already planning a return in the summer.
Top Insider Tip: Trilby & Chadwicks it's a speakeasy bar and they go ALL in with it. No sign telling you where it is ( see image) just a door you open then there's a wooden door you knock on( loudly) they open a slit and acknowledge you but you will probably have to wait as they only allow 20-25 people in at a time. Every drink is a theatrical experience and they personally deliver them to your table and will explain the story behind them. We spent several hours there and went through every single drink on the signature menu and their competition list. If you're going in a group of 4 or more call them to arrange in advance: +358401803199 - Most people in Helsinki don't even know about this place and it's a pretty unique experience.
We dont normally take busses preferring private transfers however because of baseline costs in Finland we took the airport bus. It was quick, efficient, cheap, and stopped right by our hotel. Walking is pretty easy but also you can download the Helsinki transport app ( https://www.hsl.fi/en/mobileticket ) and buy all day tickets for all public transport which lasts 24 hrs ( not calendar days) which we found to be pretty cost effective. Public transport generally runs very late with multiple services operating 24hrs.
The Finns are a lovely lot and quite self deprecating in a charming way from what we experienced. Whilst it's not a major issue do be aware of distraction crimes. We experienced one attempt but they were pretty clumsy in it's execution and MrsClam immediately moved her handbag to her front when we were approached. This though happens everywhere so normal precautions and self awareness is all that's needed.

I would say it depends on what you want to do, if you have the cash then try for a reservation at Restaurant Gron for michelin Nordic cuisine. Weekend brunch is also a big thing here, there are lots of places but for a tourist Ravintola Sunn might tick the boxes as it overlooks Senate Square and cathedral. I also like the Sori taproom, they are a craft brewer though brew in Estonia as its cheaper. Coffee and pulla (sweet buns) is a big thing in Finland, though finding good coffee can be a bit of a mission. That said, if you can get out to Cafe Regatta (which is near the Sibelius monument) then you can do coffee and pulla next to one of the Baltic sea inlets.
Use the trams to get about, and the Moovit app is good for working out which one you need if not in walking distance.
Just as a note, even though you're coming at the end of April, the Finnish weather has a thing called takatalvi which can rudely translate into winter coming back to kick you up the backside as snow at this time of the year is not unknown!

Hi all,
I'll be heading to HEL this weekend. I can't update the Wiki so would be grateful if someone could add my details please.
If anyone will be around and fancies a drink, let me know. I'll also try to say hello to The Flying Cyclist and Ski Sunday.
Cheers!

Another thing to do if the weather stays cold enough is going walking on the sea ice around the inlets, I haven't checked how it is around where i live but can report back.
