I guess it depends from your grade of sensibility
At the moment the cheaper LHR-HEL rt with Saturday night stay is around 395 GBP x 160 TPs. During the sale the price was around 230/250 GBP.

Personally I don't find great value in spending 110 eur* for less than 6 hrs of sleep, so I welcome the 35/40 eur Pod alternative option

By the way, I don't find HEL so chaotic...

*Scandic example rate on 17/18 Nov (non refundable rate)
In that case, I wish you a pleasant evening.

I’ve spent enough nights roughing it in my time and at my age would rather spend €110 for a decent 6 hours rest than spend a night in an airport pod. Each to his own. :-)

I'm not that young either, and I already had it, though not for a simple LHR-HEL, but as part of an OTP-PHX run

When I did it, few months ago, the last BA flight was also delayed so I arrived HEL around 00:15. I also had to pick up the carry-on, so I exited the baggage hall around 01:00. At that point, if I had booked a hotel, the sleep time would have been less than 5 hours.
The Pod was more than enough for that time, and it's basically a flat bed seat on ground. Once awake I went to the AY lounge, had a shower and a tea, and went to board my flight back to LHR (followed by LHR-JFK-PHX).

400TPs for 630GBP, not a bad return ex-LON...
Your flights are now all in the wiki.

I like the escalating number of flights in your itinerary; 18/1 1 flight, 19/1 2 flights and 20/1 3 flights. Now, what's your plans for 21/1?

Another newbie so cannot add to the wiki

24/11 BA0794
26/11 BA0799

Had considered the pods, but with the sale was able to get two nights of hotel in Helsinki a decent price so a mini break it is. Certainly will do a walk by, so that if in future I need a run for 160 pts I'll know the score.

Good choice. IMHO, Helsinki is a beautiful city, easy walkable, or using tram/metro. I realy like the Art Nouveau architecture buildings in the city center.

My major utilization of the HEL pods is, just like you, to walk by. Oh, and by the way, you have been elevated into the wiki

I can't be bothered with the pods for the first of my HEL visits. It'll be midnight by the time I get there so not the end of the world to hang around for 5 hours until the lounge opens.

Could always just have a nap on a normal seat if I'm feeling tired.

I think there are some lounger style chairs in the non-schengen area down near gate 53.

Probably sleep to be honest. Thought about LHR-LAX-SYD-SIN-LHR but didn't fit in with work 😂

I have 2 trips back from LAS and SFO in March and April, with silly stopovers in NYC (16 and 23hrs) so I'm sure I'll have earned my GC once all this is over 😜

Not sure about the Friday night in HEL yet but planning on Hilton AMS Saturday 19th if anyone's interested. Usually get an exec room upgrade there. Great views of apron and runways if you ask nicely.

I just had a look at the pods for the hell of it... apparently they're in T1. Can you even use those as a non-Schengen flyer? I assume there must be a way to get to them after landing?

yes you just pass through passport control and keep walking. You have to go through passport control anyway on arrival to get out, the only difference is instead of going down after passport control to the baggage hall you just stay on the same level and keep walking. There aren’t two separate terminals, it’s basically one long continuous building.
