Hi,

Welcome to flyertalk and the BA forum PaulS02!,

Some of the BA 747 will be refurbished although it is too early to say I think if all of them will be done by May ( I do not think all of them will be)

Also AA will be running a 777-200 from LHR to PHX next year ( seasonal)

Regards

TBS

Wide words from Can I help you there and hard to tell so far out.

In the meantime let me welcome you to flyertalk and the BA Board PaulS02. I liked the timing of your post too re the Jumbo as it's time stamped at 7.47! :)

Can I ask how full these flights usually are from any experienced flyers on the BA289/288 route to PHX
Flying out on Friday 3rd May retuning on Wed 15th if that makes a difference?

They are usually completely full.

Ive flown this route probably 10 times in the last two years in PE, J, & F and rarely have seen an empty seat.

Now that there will be two flights a day there may be some easing in this, but for years every time I flew, all seats were full. Last summer I had a half full first class but this was restricted due to a last minute illness for a cabin crew member (for the 288 flight). I didn’t mind as it meant I had all of rows 1 and 2 to myself. :)

Thanks was asking as my wife has spine and arthritis issues so travelling extremely uncomfortable for her,so was hoping there maybe some empty rows where she may stretch out.
What seats in WT would you recommend and what are the chances of an upgrade?
Should I look to ask for the disability assistance as never used the facility before?
Does anyy have any experience of using it?

I've flown 288 to LHR and 289 to PHX many times. It's my most common flight, actually.
I've not seen any recent upgrades in any seating class (never flown F yet) aside from IFE displays refresh i noticed on my last 289 Y flight in mid January.
I'm flying D in 289 this Sunday, so i'll let you know what i see.

What prices are you currently seeing to buy Economy to Premium Economy on Manage my Booking? There is only a very miniscule chance of a free upgrade - with two of you on a ticket, without status, I can't see this happening, upgrades only happen when the aircraft is over booked and then you may be well down the pecking order.

For a decent level of comfort, you may be able to buy into Business Class at £5-600 per person, more on the return as it's USD priced and tends to be around $1,000.00

Unfortunately I was upgraded to seat 1a in F at the gate, so I cannot report on the D seats. 😃
