Hi with our trip due soon I just wondered if the additional AA flights to PHX from Heathrow have meant a few empty seats in the later BA289/288 flights?

I doubt it, the AA flight replaced the second BA flight.

Equipment Change

For those wondering if they will get a refreshed 747 on this route - I've just been notified that our November return flights on BA289/BA288 are now on a 787.

Hi.

Thanks for that. I also think from March 2020 ie the summer 20 season it will be run with a 777 300

Regards

Hi,

Just had a look at a couple of dates and it looks like PHX will be leaving from T5 ( Nov & Dec) . The AA flight continues to use T3

It’s been said on twitter by london air travel - this route is going 787-9. No other sources yet...

It's official!

They will swap for 787-9 Dreamliner from LHR-PHX. They will move to T5 instead of T3. Only in winter 2019-2020.

That’s a hell of a cut in capacity on a route that’s usually almost always full

Hi,

Although the cut in capacity is being offset to a degree by the AA 777-200 being a daily year round service it is sizeable in terms of BA capacity.

Yeah! I knows the flight is always full for everyday. They will downgrading from 744 to 789 for winter 2019/2020 and later in Spring 2020, it will operated 777-300ER aircraft. I will miss 747 very much.

I don't know who SeanM is, but SAN was never a 789. In the last year or two it's been (mostly) B777-300ER in summer and B747 Super High J in winter.

I agree as I have been watching these flights to SAN. Still cant believe the T3 and mid j switch for winter 19/20

The super high J was too much premium capacity I think for SAN, the Mid J is probably a better fit.

T3 vs T5? I guess it's more practical logistics than anything else

Full, but profitable? There seem to have been a lot of deals to fill F, so maybe not. As BA pivots to more quality and less volume there’s more of this to come. It’s noticeable how on many routes AA can now charge a premium over BA. As new Club comes in expect BA to move towards the AA fares...
