If the old MAN service was anything to go by the volumes were there but the yields weren't. There is plenty of competition from rail for point to point domestic business and not enough connecting traffic onto a handful of LH routes.

And if MAN doesn't work, where would?

If the other low cost operators can't make it work then chances are not good for BA.

ISTR C-W-S saying this was a work in progress, but required some construction work to segregate CTA arrivals.

Makes sense as there is a Domestic arrivals route for baggage reclaim (not that I've ever checked a bag... yet) but just needs a more indoor approach. :-)

Still, it's a minor sacrifice in the part of a JER TP run.

Cancun - Frequency will increase from 4 to 5 x Weekly from 16JUN19 to 25AUG19
Kingston - Frequency will increase from 3 to 4 x Weekly from 18JUN19 to 30AUG19
Las Vegas - Frequency will increase from 5 to 6 x Weekly from 19JUN19 to 28AUG19

Looking at that does it suggest an extra frame being based at LGW with a new 3x weekly route to be announced shortly?

Below are how many 777’s will be required to operate on each day, based on the timetable loaded for the last week in July 2019

Monday & Thursday - 12 aircraft

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday - 13 aircraft

Sunday - 14 aircraft

Don't forget though that when operating the Mauritius service 3 times a week 777 aircraft are away from base nearly 30 hours. You also have to allow for routine maintenance. So it looks like 14 or 15 aircraft required. With further deliveries of 787 and A350 to LHR this looks possible to achieve. 777s from Heathrow are also regularly sent to and from Gatwick to help out at peak times.

With recent announcements regarding Summer 2019 at Heathrow and London City, hopefully we will soon hear more
about plans for Gatwick in the coming weeks.

Is there a reason why an airside transfer bus couldn't do this? Is it just that BA wouldn't want to pay the running costs or would security not allow it? I guess there's a big potential for "breaking out" of the bus etc and skipping immigration which could be too difficult to overcome.

At the very least, baggage transfers between the airports would be nice!
