BA First 747 or 777

I have an opportunity to book LHR-IAH on the 777 in First or LHR-AUS on the 747, also in First. Have never flown either. Which is the better experience?

Thanks!

For the novelty and flying romance of flying in the nose, the 747 (which is gradually being phased out). For a more spacious cabin and seat area, the 777. Depending on which version of either aircraft, there could be a more superior IFE on one vs the other, otherwise everything else is more or less the same.

Much prefer the feel of the 747; more unique and special in row 1 or 2. Yes, the space is a bit less but that is a serious first world problem. It’s still very adequate. The 777 feels a bit like the CW dorm with fewer, nicer seats. Fine but nothing memorable. If row 1/2 available I’d go 747. Otherwise it’s probably harder to call.

747 has a small overhead locker and the 777 has lots of space for shared eating.

But if you can get Row 1 of the 747...

A few recent thoughts on some aspects of the perennial 747 / 777 question can be found in these threads:-

We're booked! Was able to lock in seat assignments 2A and 2K. Not quite row 1, but who can complain?

Nothing wrong with those seats. You'll still get the ability to look forward through the window due to the curve of the fuselage, but not quite as pronounced as row 1. You will have overhead locker space though. I'm assuming you booked the 747?

AUS is 747 now? I thought it was 787?

It used to be, but swapped earlier this year. I think I was actually on the last 787 flight back from Austin...

If I recall correctly it started as 788 then went to 777 and then 747? I assume loads or cargo or both are performing well

Which fleet operate these routes? I personally would choose the route that was operated by WW. However if both are MF then I would go for the 747
