Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

BUD to LHR T3
9 August 2019

Printed menus not available. However, I suspect the menu would be same as post #1074 .

One hour ground stop in BUD due to Heathrow weather, Flight attendants offered water or cranberry juice during ground delay.

Meal choice of:
  • Halibut with mashed potatoes and vegetables;
  • Risotto with asparagus.

I chose the halibut and found it very tasty!

The typical sides and chocolate moose dessert were also offered....

Flight attendant David Fisher very friendly and efficient offering superior service!

Is it not part of BAs service standards to, er, wipe the rim before it leaves the galley ?

What the bloody hell is a "potato risotto"??!! What sort of sick mind would invent such a concept?

Had the same main out to Madrid last month.
The roasted knee joint with accompanying jus and vegetables was tasty. The yellow slurry was crunchy al dente style cubed potatoes in a salty gratin sauce. It was absolutely disgusting and had me posing the same question as you. Who dreams up this muck???

The sauce splatter was baked onto the rim of the dish (probably displaced before reheating) and really needed a dab of Fairy Liquid to remove. So forgivable.

It was a tasty main though

I like to end with a sweet taste in my mouth - so it is always cheese and then dessert in my house. Now, I have a confession to make - I am a cheesaholic. I can eat the stuff all day every day. There are few cheeses that I do not like - the main one being Roquefort as it is just too salty for my taste. So, last night my husband and I swapped. I had his cheese, and he had my Kentish Apple and Cinnamon Crisp ( why they just didn't call it a crumble)

So the menu LGW - ALC last night was

STARTER

Antipasti of pepper with Feta, Olives, and Sun-Blushed Tomatoes

Main

Beef Bourguignon (why did they try and feminise it) with crushed spring onion scented potatoes (which I might add was delicious)
or
Macaroni Cheese with Crumbled Goats Cheese and Porcini crumbs
or
Roased honey mustard chicken breast with sauteed kale (not terribly summery) and Puy lentil salad

Cheese - Cheddar and Brie which went down very nicely with the Chateau de Ruth.

The Champagne was Nicolas Feuillat which is far better than the Castelnau.

Now - @Oxon Flyer - my Angel. I am so surprised to find that you clearly have a thing about Rimming. Were I still flying, and were I on Eurofleet, I would always ensure that your rim was wiped. Now, admit it. That is an offer that has rarely seen the light of day on Flyertalk in general or in the Forum in particular. This offer has no cash or credit alternative,

Totally agree, this really gets my goat and seems to be a particular BA trait. It seems to be the default setting for the meals is *nuke*.

Had the same on ARN flight on Saturday, clearly one of low quality dishes.

At least yours still looks like it should.
Our CC member had trouble getting the foil off from the "plates" which resulted in mine being almost flipped over. It looked like exploded when I got it served and I dared not to take a pic for this thread
