Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Express band dinner

This was beef on humus. I prefer the previous variant on horseradish.

Band 3 rest of the day

No menus, options were lamb (which was quite tasty) and gnocchi. Also for the benefit of @BAeuro there was cheese and crackers.

I had the lamb on that same flight and yes it was nice. Cheese and crackers are always nice, albeit on that route you might find yourself cheese and crackered out by the time you get on board given that the ARN Lounge seems to offer nothing else other than a "cheese buffet".

Inbound dinner, band 3

No menu was given. The main dish was vegetarian tortellini. Quite ok, if not a bit tasteless. The starter was dried tomato with cream cheese (?). Brie and piece of hard cheese came with a cider chutney(?). Ok pudding for dessert.

Most people took some kind of beef. The salad came with salmon.

It was spinach gnocchi. The starter is Greek yoghurt & roasted tomatoes. The cheese comes with apple pear chutney. The meat option is the braised lamb shank with grilled vegetables, celeriac mousseline that KARFA posted a pic of.

Does anyone have any pics of special meals for band 1 dinner? We're off on our honeymoon in a few months. Many thanks.

I agree. The tortellini term came from the cabin attendant.

Thanks. The cabin crew told everyone that the meat option was beef. I think it would be better to give the menu cards as they should be available for bands 3 and 4.

Addition: I had totally missed post #880 . Sorry for that. Anyhow the cheese selection is different (no blue cheese and the orange colour cheddar this time)

There are a few links in the wiki to posts with photos of some band 1 special meals. Is there any specific special you are looking for?

On shorter bands, all SPML tend to be the same (often including children's meals!) except KSML which has to be produced separately. I think longer ones have some variations but they tend to be minor.

Hmmmm, by that account I wonder if Halal is done separately too? technically speaking if they wanted to they could serve people ordering halal and kosher the normal veggie stuff (and make it alcohol free to satisfy halal)

No, Halal is usually the same as the other SPML (ie the VGML etc is also Halal). For Kosher what you suggest does not work because most people keeping kosher won't eat "the same veggie stuff" without Kosher certification because they worry about cross contamination (e.g. you would need to ensure kitchen where meat and dairy products are stored in separate fridges, cooked using separate pans and ustensils, not to mention kosher lepessach cleaning during Passover, etc). So ultimately, the only convenient way to serve KSML is to order it from a kosher caterer who takes care of the compliance and certification. Ensuring the kitchens of the regular caterer are organised to meet the requirement of kosher certification would be a nightmare and really a lot more costly and complicated than subcontracting.
