Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

In my experience on MAN and LBA there isn't a choice, it's take the single option or pass on the meal.

If you require a vegetarian meal I would suggest you order a special meal through mmb.

Domestic CE today. Instead of the sandwiches I’ve always enjoyed we had the choice of an antipasti (pictured) or a butternut squash salad thing.

Drinks flowed, crew were excellent. Everything served from the galley (vs trolley) and somehow felt quicker. Two crew doing 5 rows of CE.

Managed two champagnes in my short domestic.

Sorry a little late...

BA0406 LHR>BCN 08/05/19: AVML - no idea what it was meant to be but tasted ok.

BA0477 BCN>LHR 13/05/19: Obviously not AVML as I don't order it for breakfast (not usually to my liking). Certainly better than the last Full English I had onboard and eggs didn't taste funny this time. With the fruit, croissant and oat bar thing, it was certainly filling.

Slightly O/T- but what usually comes out for an AVML breakfast? I'm always envious of the delicious looking paneer curries which come out for lunch/dinner services on long haul (and got to try one LHR-ORD a few weeks ago as it was the only thing left that wasn't a cheese pasta) but have considered ordering one, wondering what potential implications it'd have for a breakfast service...

It's been a while since I ordered one but I always ended up receiving a potato curry with paratha or medu vada (Google it) with dhal.

Some people may be ok with it, which I accept, but personally for me I can't digest it in the morning!

AVML lunch/dinner I'm absolutely fine with and BA (in my opinion) have always done this well, almost restaurant quality a lot of the time.

NCL-LHR, 23 May 2019, BA1335, 1625 Band 1 Afternoon Tea

Sandwiches, scone and plum desert.

Have to say not the best ‘afternoon tea’ I’ve had - sandwiches were rather dull.

But couple of bottles of champagne put paid to my worries.

Choices were - full English, four cheese omelette, selection of meats and cheeses. We both opted for the omelette.

Fantastic crew, delicious omelette - currently enjoying local beer and wine in the heat.

Had the same from LGW-AGP this week. Although my omelette wasn't as overdone as the one in the picture. Very good except for the grumpy CSM

I have to say that although it looked overdone, it was absolutely fine - perhaps the cheeses added to the moistness but it wasn't rubbery so we were both very happy. Coming back tomorrow sadly...

Band 4, rest of day, KGS to LGW 25 May 1410 departure.

Another great crew.

We both had the Chicken Curry and it was moist, tasty and filling. I think also, probably the most flavoursome cheddar I've ever had on a flight.

I won't make a new thread but we had an odd thing happen the other day ALC - LGW.

Apart from the continual serving of curry which is boring me witless, the CSM told me that the only Champgane loaded was the Rosé that they usually have in CW. There was loads of it and I liked it but sometimes what the caterers put onto the aircraft does very from what is supposed to be there.

Sorry for the reflection off the top of the dessert pot. It was a chocolate mousse with orange shavings on top.
