Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

That's what I was told it was. Or what my brain thought I was told Probably as it was my third flight on a long trip home from Asia, and I'd recently eaten a decent amount of wasabi, but it had no horseradish flavour.

it does look like your one is houmus - previous versions seem to have a horseradish cream as scottishpoet noted

They also seem to be obsessed with mousseline. Both main courses on my LHR-JFK CW recently were served with a mousseline.

On the version I had recently (post #797 ), the menu described it as 'tartar cream'. It was nicely 'tangy'!

The beige paste under the beef in the current rotation is hummus, It was a horseradish sauce in the last rotation.

Yes, my apologies it is in the new rotation - my mistake!

Two recent menus between LGW and MLA:

Had the Curry on both occasions. Well, it was the usual roast chicken breast with 'sauce du jour' poured over it, so not exactly a 'curry'. And the mini-naan was drowning!! Edible, but little more than that.

What was also interesting was the BA2778, LGW-JER, @ 20:20 yesterday. Basically the same sort of menu, albeit with a cold chicken salad instead of 'Curry'. Yes, a 3-course meal on what turned out to be a 50-minute flight!

Anyway, mustn't complain, as the MLA-LGW leg renewed BAEC Gold for us both ... with 4 days to spare!

And here's the inbound Thai Chicken curry as mentioned above. Also taken on 04MAY ALC-LGW. Continuous curry resides at Gatters and quite frankly I'm fed up with it. It's as if they don't know how to cook anything else.

Cheap, easy and flexible ... as also seen in various disguises on l/h. Call it what they will, it’s still chicken breast with some sort of sauce poured over it (not cooked in it). Endless ‘variety’ for minimal effort: you can see the caterer’s perspective!

However, it’s usually either that or, on l/h, BA Beef ... now there’s a conundrum!

I quite like the curries! I had a ‘yellow chicken curry’ version which I haven’t seen before, yesterday on LHR-LPA. Not at all spicy and not a proper curry at all, but it had a nice savoury taste and went down well. The other options on that flight were pasta of some sort with tomato sauce, or the beef on hummus / beige paste as described above, which sounds just weird but was very popular and quickly ran out.
