Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

On a side note, salmon starter looks much nicer than the three iceberg leaves on the normal menu!

The KSML is just to much to eat on such a short flight. You probably had some jealous neighbours @KARFA .

There is definitely a lot in the KSML meal. Managed to eat it all tho

For the life of me, I really cannot see any difference between the Band 3 and the Band 4 meals. Apart from the whole shot coming on one tray - a shame for Band 4 I would say - it looks like things have improved as far as I can taste.

So the rotation has changed on Wednesday. Is there a fourth rotation or are we back at the first on?

Edit: I was careless not noticing a different sauce with the beef salad, so it seems there are indeed four rotations. I’m looking forward to seeing new pictures.

LHR-GOT cooked breakfast. Bread and croissants were also offered. Continental cheese/meat plate or porridge were the other choices.


HEL-LHR rest of the day (17:10 departure). Salad starter was nothing much, Thai chicken curry, cheese and dessert were good (I would have liked some blue cheese included).

No menu cards were offered on HEL-LHR (wasn't expecting them for the breakfast LHR-GOT). Is HEL band 3 or 4? Other options were ravioli (probably the one posted above by KARFA) or chicken salad.

LHR-BHD

Flew LHR-BHD last Thursday late afternoon. Cabin crew young and at sixes-and-sevens, with little customer focus. No hot towels offered. (Cold) beef salad was tasty. Champers was Pommery Brut Royal, so OK. I had been expecting the Mouton Cadet red, but something else was served, which was acceptable. Once again, no tea or coffee offered. They really cannot continue to cut corners like this!

Were no drinks offered when food was served? Usually on the short routes when they start collecting the finished trays they will ask if you want anything else, I don't remember having a separate tea & coffee round later during the flight during these short flights.

4 sectors over the weekend (GLA-LHR, LHR-CDG, CDG-LHR, LHR-GLA).

Despite being short sectors tea and coffee was offered following the meal and drinks runs on all flights. The new catering is definitely an improvement.

That's always been the problem: inconsistency! How difficult is it to get all cabin crews on the same wavelength??? It can't surely be rocket science??? I blame the management. Or is that British refusal to conform to direction which keeps shooting us in the foot? Do the bosses ever fly Singapore, Emirates etc etc?
