Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

BA782 LHR-ARN dep 1700

Not sure about BA’s fascination with putting “stuff that most people haven’t heard of” on their menus. Shakshouka ? (other than to make the starter look like “semolina with jam”)

Shakshuka is delicious -- and this is not a shakshuka, so Do&Co cooks should go back to learn...

Agreed, there are many variations of shakshuka thoughout the Middle East and North Africa, and none of them are even close to what is being served there!

Incidentally, Ive noticed from the last few photos that the tray liner on which the food is now presented bears more than a passing resemblance to a J cloth .....

And a photo of this with the Thai Green Curry option:

This was on LGW to RAK.

The Premium Nut Mix from upthread was given out before hand. The packaging looks awful but the contents were ok.

The curry was nice enough, the cheese needs some chutney or fig jam.

Sadly didnt manage to catch a glimpse. However did see the loading info which may be of interest. About 22 passengers in the cabin provided with 14 Thai curry, 14 pasta and 4 prawn with rainbow noodle salad.

I'm far from a frequent flyer especially at Gatwick but I've lost count of how many Band 3-4 menu rotations have seen this offering. The antipasto starter appears on practically every tray and don't get me started on curry.... The variation for me comes in how well the food is cooked and presented (call it my own personal IFE!)

Sadly this meal is exactly to my taste (though I agree with the above, the cheese could use some chutney) and I would eat all of it every time!

Agree there is a lot of repetition, we were unfortunate enough to have the same menu outbound and inbound from/to LGW recently as only fancied one main had to have the roast chicken twice! Wish they would rotate them more, hope we get a different menu in a couple of weeks time.

I assume you mean 4 Pasta. With 22 pax there should be 22 meals. BA dont seem to over cater in CE. 14 Curry, 4 Pasta and 4 Salad make the 22?

Looked like 14 to me. But was hand written so I could have misread or misremembered.

There were 26 seats in the cabin, 1 special meal and 3 empty seats so 22 pax. There looked to be some spare base trays at the end. But impossible to know if that was because they were over catered or if some pax declined.

You tend to see most people eating in CE ex-LGW, in a way you often dont from LHR but not sure if that affects the amount of meals loaded.
