Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

That looks quite tasty - more interesting than a standard eggs/sausage thing. It looks a bit dry though; was it?

However, now I've just scraped Silver two days before my collection year ended, I'll be back to flying only economy short-haul. All I want is lounge access and fast track, and I've got those now.

It was tasty and a bit spicy too. The chickpeas were in a tomato sauce and the cauliflower was very soft and moist, so perfect IMO.

Band 1 - Breakfast - VGML

Was nice, glad I tried it. Not entirely sure what it was made up of though as I didn't get any sort of info (and no, I'm not actually vegan, hence the croissant).

I must say that it is disappointing that BA offers asian curry dish as a vegan breakfast, where BACF makes a great vegan version if the traditional English breakfast.
I do love asian food, but not sure if I could stomach lentil curry at 7AM.

Everyone's different! I'd much prefer a lentil curry for breakfast than a vegan English breakfast. I'm not vegan (or vegetarian) but I love Indian veggie/vegan food. What I don't like is meat-based dishes turned into veggie/vegan ones.

But then I'm the type of person who will happily microwave left-over curry for breakfast.

Just to add in the BACF vegan breakfast there is no vegan sausages or any meat replica. It is baked beans, hasbrown, grilled tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms.

Can you imagine the whining - My Roast Potatoes turned soggy. They didn't parboil the Potatoes and they were all hard. I like the new menus but they do rather sound as though they were dreamed up in some Ladies College.

I had the Macaroni as we had Curry on the flight out, The Starter was delicious. The Main was pipping hot and far from unpleasant - HI said that he enjoyed his Curry. I'm glad someone does - I'm frankly fed up ( excuse pun) with them.

The cheese was most tasty, and the Dessert delightful.

Much dearer to my heart. The CSM of what I can only describe as a 1st class crew told me that people are now drinking mkuch more Champagne. As a result she had 20 bottles catered. CE was back to Row 8 in both directions. Passengers and crew have complained about them running out and so this has been changed. They've made space by removing a lot of the beer which and by not having the large bottles of wine. Frankly I don't like the idea of small bottles but it works so much better and gives people two glasses without all the faffing around. Indeed the big bottles were all screw top..New glasses are coming in the New Year I was told like stemless coupes - we shall see.

All in all, I think that a great effort has been made, and whilst I may not be a curry fan, lots of others are and there are always more choices. They have missed a trick with the coffee which still tastes like American Bland but you cannot have everything.

Sorry there are no pictures of my tray, glasses of drinks or anything else. I consider food photography as special art and one that most have not mastered. I cannot believe that I have actually managed to post this!
