Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

that fruit serving looks a little mean compared to the express KSML offering, see the wiki for the link to the photo.

Had two wonderful flights in CE yesterday with crews who couldn’t do enough, a rare treat for me so maybe I am easily pleased?
They were all spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed testing out the CX and QF lounges during my connection at T3, having only been in Galls at T5 so far it made a nice change.

Rest of the day meal on the BA1325 NCL-LHR yesterday. Bread lovely and warm and chicken salad was actually lovely. Chocolate mousse dessert the highlight for me!

I didn’t have a meal on the connecting 798 LHR-HEL as I’d eaten in the lounge but this was the menu.

I had the menu shown above on my recent flilght LHR-HEL. While the salad was really miniscule, resembling school cantine offerings, the rest of the food tasted good, especially the banoffee.

Otherwise very underwhelming performance from the crew. Two of them working CE. No drinks round before the meal (flight over 2h20min and only 11 pax). Dinner served quickly and the rest 1h30min of the flight crew spent chatting in the galley. Outbound a few days earlier, totally opposite experince. Very proactive crew. Predinner drinks, well-paced meal service and frequent rounds after meal to ask if wanted someting else. Flight of similar lenght and more pax in CE.

It seems that it's a great challenge for BA to get there employees to offer similar service throughout the CE. There is, after all, some sort of "service manual" to follow or am I completely wrong.

Band 4 - Rest of Day Meal

I had the same menu on my LCA flight yesterday. Also my last BA 767 for me I think. Flew on ZHA and coincidentally my first ever flight at 6 months old was on the same frame back in 2000 to NCE.

Here is the photo of the pork. Dad had the pea pasta but picture above.

Chicken in a morel sauce. NAP - LGW 15th October 2018. Unimpressed, starter was like something from Tesco Express. Main was unadventurous and over cooked. Crew were decent.

Chicken in mushroom sauce, tomato pasta or chicken salad, way too safe BA

ALC LGW 15 Oct

Less engaged crew than those on my outbound flight

- No menus
- No Hot towels
- Crew were generally looking lethargic

‘Roast Chicken’ as it was described was ok.

BA806 LHR-BLL KSML. Tasty Afternoon Tea. The scone was very nice with the cream provided. Full description below.

BA807 BLL-LHR KSML. Well I ate this a few days ago and didn’t finish it so this was the chance to finish it and it was excellent. What was amazing was that the meals were different on this B2B which was good as I wasn’t interested in more finger sandwiches.

Express dinner, AVML

Also new pb, 4 bottles this evening helped by two laps of the hold, although I had started the 4th bottle before entering the hold.
