Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by zappomatic BA CityFlyer catering guide

Not sure this picture adds anything to that by C-W-S in post 123 however the salad seems to have gained a couple of olives.

No bread roll or scone offered. Asked about the scone, as did another traveller, and crew seemed to think it either hadnít been loaded or it wasnít part of the service on the route, it wasnít entirely clear which.
Well given the tray has clotted cream and jam on it, one assumes a scone was intended. Must have been missed off the loading.

This is one of the out-bound dinner options for band 2 (or beef salad). This is almost the same meal as corporate-wage-slave showed in post #23 (band 1 lunch). The only difference was that my salad contained one shrimp and 1/2 egg instead of cheese.

Yes indeed, and point was made to the cabin crew, but with one cabin crew serving ten or so passengers on such a short sector, time for discussion was understandably limited. It was an A319 with an element of shuffling of trolleys/items from the front to the rear of the aircraft before departure so part of me wonders if they hadn't been loaded in a slightly odd place that wasn't immediately obvious to the crew.

How did this compare to the previous KSML and non express breakfast?

That's a lot of fruit!

The salmon looks decent but the bagel itself looks (unsurprisingly) awful.

Good question, I never had it as I liked the bacon butty! I was having it today to get a photo.

Have looked through the previous catering thread to try and find a photo with no luck. The only thing I found was this https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/29086285-post1742.html where ManchesterBDFlyer was struggling top even get one.

The fruit was very nice. Tbh it was too much overall. I am not a slow eater and used to the express routes, yet I didn't manage to finish it, the yoghurt went untouched. The bagel bread itself wasn't the best and of course not helped by being cold.

Kosher meals usually are frozen, so the bagel likely wasn't fresh.

so what I gather from all of this is anything upto 2.5/3hrs you will get a salad except for Madrid which gets the longer meal service. So if you want a hot meal then bring your own food onboard? :P

Interesting... had the same starter and dessert on my CE flight from BHD to LHR this evening. Pic to follow!

(Thank goodness BA don't need photo ID on domestics - lost my only photo ID - passport - on Saturday, so couldn't use by Flybe BHD-LCY flight. My trip to Barcelona on Friday is now not happening )

EDIT: just realized that you weren't in long haul First so that explains it!

09 OCT, BHD-LHR Club Europe.

Noticeable was the much improved bread - bigger and tastier rolls.

Drinks and almonds were served before the meal.
