Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Kind if sad and uninspiring meal.
Champagne was served from a full size bottle and was steady flowing so to speak, made up for the bland meal.
I had the same terrible meal on 28 Jan LHR LPA. It's the worst I've ever had. I left almost all of it. The main was very sweet, the dessert was awful. I ended up having dry oatcakes. It gets my goat too that the caterers group together some special meals so when you're GF they don't serve you even some butter. Get a grip BA.

OTP to LHR this morning breakfast was min single sausage and eggs or cheese omlette. I had ordered KSML, was disapointed when it turned out to be a cold meal whilst everyone elses was hot. It was a salmon and cream cheese bagle with yoghurt and water. Crew seemed embrassed as they offered me multiple crossants, although actually tasted nicer then the hot options IMO. But to answer my own question from a while back, KSML's aren't guarateed to be dairy free as this one obviously came with cream cheese and dairy youghurt, although randomly it came with milk free creamer. Will be trying NLML & KSML on my upcoming ARN lunch and dinner flights.

LHR-INV, 06MAR22 BA1466

My first flight in what, 200 years and this is what they serve.
Sandwiches were awful.

The experience at Heathrow has put me off flying for good. Longest queues for bag drop I've ever seen. I asked if there was a separate area for Club Europe and was told "Yes but I have no idea how busy it is". Queues at Fastrack. Walked the length of Galleries North to find a seat. After 10 minutes I found one.

DIsappointed from Dorset. Although...

- the scone was warmed

- the lemon drizzle cake was lovely
- the crew member who served me was fantastic. Probably one of the best in all of my flying with BA.

Can’t help you myself …… although have to say that the offering featured in Sealink’s photo above looks very much like kiddies meal territory.

Here's the spinach gnocchi if anybody wants to feast their eyes! Not my thing but I've had the shepherd's pie multiple times!

Definitely not the most Instagram-friendly meal I've ever had, but it was tasty and reasonably filling.

On a similar note, I had the shepherds pie from this meal rotation on Friday. Nothing to look at but pretty tasty and felt substantial enough for a 2 hour flight.

Now I’ve got the positives out the way, come on BA, let’s get back to proper J food with the summer schedule!!!

That's one of my biggest complaint as a GF flier, the group together, particular when one missing out on the post dinner cheese selection time to time.
On another certain airlineI've been denied ice-cream more than once with the motivation "you had a gluten free meal" even though they had plenty of servings of ice cream to spare, first world problem for sure, never the less.

Your spot on regarding this particular meal, makes me miss the Tikka Masala chicken that was the previous staple GFML in CE.

On side semi-off topic not, flying out of London early yesterday morning the staff at GF [pun intended] had no problem making me the salmon-scrambled egg on a gluten-free toast.
GF is one of the more accommodating lounges if not the best regarding customizing dishes to become gluten free.

Any improvements in current catering standards are certainly to be welcomed, but I also tend to think there is something underwhelming or even depressing about the fact that the much-anticipated changes due to come with the summer schedule could very likely amount to no more than a return to what was previously available - as distinct from any true game-changing upgrade in overall standards. Time will tell of course.

The deterioration in catering is akin to a business traveller-orientated hotel providing budget bed linen for a sustained period of time, whilst maintaining high room rates …… before eventually deciding that guests do deserve quality linen. It’s the minimum to be expected.

I can totally understand the point made by several FT-ers that caterers can only work within the budget set any particular airline / client - but I remain at a loss to fathom quite why (???) Do & Co are ‘happy’ to risk their brand & reputation by association with some of the inflight meals as currently offered.
